Job Description

Clinical Director-Abbey Veterinary Clinic, Arbroath Posted on 30/12/2022

All the relevant skills, qualifications and experience that a successful applicant will need are listed in the following description.
Four vet, two branch mixed (90% small animal) practice.
Salary up to £75,000 commensurate with experience
Relocation allowance of up to £5,000
Welcome bonus of up to £5,000
Looking for experienced mixed or small animal practice clinician.
Abbey vet clinics is a well-established practice with branches in the market town of Forfar and the historic seaside town of Arbroath, both within easy reach of mountains, beaches and the bright lights of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, and Dundee.
We are looking for a senior vet or Clinical Director to join two existing CDs. The role will involve management duties and developing the practice alongside clinical duties and would suit an experienced clinician who is ready to take on more responsibilities and help to develop the skills and knowledge of more recent graduates.
We have varied surgical and medical caseloads and you will have clinical freedom to follow your own cases with daily opportunities for operating.
We undertake a large amount of work for our local Cats Protection branch and have now started a dedicated cat clinic.
Our large animal work is mostly suckler cattle with a small amount of dairy, sheep and equine.
We share a one in four night and weekend on-call rota with nurse cover provided.
The practice has 3 RVNs who now run their own clinics, doing nail clips, post-op discharges and examinations, blood pressure monitoring and blood sampling.
Both clinics are equipped with iM3 dental machines, digital radiology and Idexx biochemistry and haematology equipment, as well as fully equipped operating theatres.
Applicant requirements
Ideally, we would like the candidate to have some management or Clinical Director experience, but the role may suit an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking to step up and learn the skills needed for a Clinical Director. You must be confident in clinical matters encountered in a mixed practice or a small animal general practice and can lead and support the team, both clinical and non-clinical, and still have the enthusiasm and energy to help the practice and staff progress and flourish. This is a 90 percent SA 10 percent LA practice, and ideally the successful applicant would share in the mixed workload although for the right person we would consider an applicant dedicated to SA only duties. Must be RCVS registered. Full UK drivers licence essential.
