We’re uniting science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together.   Find out more: Our approach to R&D .    The department of Protein and Cell Sciences at GSK’s Medicines Research Centre in Stevenage (PCS UK) is engaged in the design, generation, and validation of biological reagents to support drug discovery across all of GSK’s therapeutic modalities, including small molecules, biopharmaceuticals and oligonucleotides. The department works in close partnership with GSKs therapeutic research units and antibody and small molecule discovery teams to generate state of the art reagents. The department is a dynamic environment that is developing its capabilities in generation and characterisation of complex cellular and protein reagents. There is currently an exciting opportunity for an Antibody Protein Purification Scientist to join the department. In this role you will… ·        Be a self-motivated protein biochemist with a strong interest and skills in expression, purification, and characterisation of antibodies. ·        Be responsible for the purification and characterisation of antibodies in different formats and at different scales. ·        Support the organisation in the supply of biological reagents for drug discovery processes from target through to candidate selection. ·        Enhance your skills in expression, purification, and characterisation of antibodies and an interest in novel antibody formats. ·        Work in a large team of protein biochemists, contributing to an energetic environment in state-of-the-art laboratories. ·        Have the opportunity to interact with program teams in a matrix environment. Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Bachelor of Science in a biological or biochemical sciences discipline with post-graduate laboratory experience. Experience of antibody purification and characterisation techniques. Knowledge of protein analytical and biophysical characterisation techniques. Experience of expression in mammalian expression systems. Good written and verbal communication skills, an ability to work towards agreed timelines and effectively organise multiple tasks. Good data handling and experimental record keeping skills. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: PhD or Masters Degree. Experience with molecular biology design and construct generation. Experience with automated protein purification devices e.g., AKTA. Experience with expression in insect and bacterial expression systems. Track record of flexibility and teamwork.
