Job Description:As a Quality Application Engineer, you’ll be a key part of our agile delivery teams– from helping refine and test requirements, to building automated regression test suites. You’ll ultimately help ensure your team continually delivers quality applications into production at Discover. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.Do you love to test and break things? Are you passionate about software quality? Working within an agile scrum team you will deliver software solutions from inception to production covering the whole SDLC ensuring they are bug free. This role is very strategic in the growth and technical advancement of the Digital Payments platform at Discover. The software you help build and test will be consumed directly by Discover card holders at speed and scale. You will be working on mission critical payment systems. ResponsibilitiesAnalyze, design, program, test, and deploy new user stories and features with high quality (security, reliability, operations) to productionTends to Associate Application Engineers by providing learning tasks as well as work related tasks, directs the work of Senior Associate Application Engineers, and helps them continue to growAchieves team commitments (and influence others to do the same) by using informal leadership & highly developed communication skillsHas an oversight on design decisions and guides team to achieve key results for products assigned to themRemediates issues using engineering principles and creates proactive design solutions for potential failuresContributes to and leads technology communities at DiscoverMinimum QualificationsAt a minimum, here’s what we need from you:Bachelors – Computer Science or relatedInformation Technology, (Software) Engineering, or relatedInternal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scaleExperience testing with Cucumber, Junit and mocking fromeworks. Experience writing application code working as a SDETTesting and developing microservices with SpringBoot and API testingPreferred QualificationsBonus Points If You Have:Nonfunctional testing experienceTest first mindsetExperience of digital paymentsExperience working with code quality toolsConfident in ensuring all code works well, is fully tested and meets requirementsWorking alongside team members to ensure all test scenarios are fully accounted for and considered.
