Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Applications Engineer - Embedded Computing home / field based with visits, as required, to headquarters in Bedford. My client is a global designer and manufacturer of products for housing electronic systems and they are looking for an Applications Engineer - Embedded Computing, home / field based, who will report into the Sales & Marketing Director. This role requires a technical background with excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as a commitment to excellence. You will have experience of "embedded systems" in mostly Defence related applications. Key responsibilities: Recommend solutions based on current products and customer requirements. Work closely with eco-system partners and maintain up-to-date knowledge of their capabilities and product road-maps. Provide product application engineering to support design (interface between Sales and Engineering). Prepare technical solutions in support of new opportunities. Support RSM in preparing system configuration descriptions and other order specific configuration documents. Provide "field" technical support to customers. Responsible for completeness of documentation to Engineering and provide prompt and effective feedback to Engineering on open technical issues from customers whenever needed. Visit customer sites as required The ideal Applications Engineer - Embedded Computing, home / field based, will have a blend of the following skills and experience: Experience of working in an electronic, electronic packaging or high-tech manufacturing business. Single Board Computer, Ethernet Switch, Storage and Software integration knowledge. Some understanding of contract review is necessary.
