Purpose of job:

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and experience by working as an Apprentice within our Company. Apprenticeships give you the opportunity and support to develop new work- placed skills in an organisation committed to your professional success.

As an Apprentice, you will fully commit to the off-the-job training requirements of the post alongside your normal day-to-day job. The post holder will complete a course of study and/or all learning and development requirements of the role.

You will have the opportunity to participate in a supportive environment to develop the behaviours, knowledge and professional skills required of the role and the team. You will commit to your professional development plan, set out at the beginning of your Apprenticeship.

As an Apprentice you will be expected to take ownership of the tasks and projects set out by your line manager and understand the importance of managing both professional and learning responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilise CAD/CAM software to create nesting layouts for laser cutting operations, maximising material usage and minimising waste.
  • Analyse engineering drawings and specifications to determine the most efficient cutting paths and strategies.
  • Collaborate with production and design teams to understand project requirements and constraints.
  • Optimise cutting parameters, including cutting speed, power, and assist gas usage, to achieve the desired results.
  • Develop and maintain a library of cutting templates and best practices for different materials and thicknesses.
  • Conduct regular audits of nesting processes to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Stay current with advancements in laser cutting technology and software tools, implementing new techniques and methodologies as appropriate.
  • Always follow the company's Health & Safety Policy.
  • The job holder will need to attend college (day release preferably)
