Salary: £25,065 to £27,290 with additional annual allowance of £3,500.

Type: Full/Part Time; Permanent

Start Date: May 2024 or ASAP


My client, the largest boys’ independent preparatory school in the UK, is seeking to appoint two helpful, motivated and team focused individuals to assist and support the facilities team with the daily preparation and maintenance of the whole school site.


Duties include meeting and greeting facility hirers, as well as locking up and securing the school site. Having a flexible approach, willingness to adapt and being able to respond to priorities is essential.


General Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of School Premises (Internal and External)
  • Report and rectify (where appropriate) any faults, problems or damage to the school’s buildings.
  • Fire Warden training and duties for the school
  • Opening and closing school premises
  • Liaising with outside hirers and working with cleaning contractors
  • Porterage of equipment, furniture and deliveries around the School and between sites
  • Basic maintenance tasks, including sweeping, leaf blowing, and other general duties.


You will be:

  • Able to prioritise and manage a varied workload, work independently, and use initiative.
  • Team-focused: share knowledge and information with other staff members to promote good practice.
  • Co-operative, helpful and accommodating with other team members and staff.
  • Able to follow instruction and focus on what needs to be delivered: understand what is required and respond promptly.
  • Proactive with a ‘can do’ attitude to all tasks.
  • Welcoming of challenges and meet them with enthusiasm.
  • Flexible in approach, and willing to adapt and respond to priorities.
  • Consistently striving to maintain a high standard of work.


Key Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge and aptitude for handyman tasks with an interest or experience in gardening.
  • A full UK driving licence and ability to drive a minibus would be highly desirable.
  • Able to swim and confident to undertake pool plant course (three days).
  • Health & Safety procedures, including manual lifting and handling procedures and Fire precaution
