Job Description

Assistant Legal Counsel - NQ -2

Northallerton, North Yorkshire

The Company

Froneri Group is the world leading global pureplay ice cream company with its headquarters in North Yorkshire.

Created in 2016 as a joint venture between R&R and Nestlé, Froneri is the second largest manufacturer of ice cream in the world. Froneri is present in over 20 countries with revenues of more than€5bn and over 15,000 employees.

With an unrivalled focus on product innovation and quality, Froneri produces a wide range of delicious own label products for the leading supermarkets, as well as some of the world’s best-known brands such as Nestlé, Mondelēz, Del Monte, and Kelly’s.

The Role

A role has been newly created for an ambitious in-house lawyer to join Froneri’s growing legal function.

Based at the company’s headquarters, but with hybrid working, you will play a key role in all legal matters for the Group both in the UK and internationally. Activities are likely to include management and delivery of strategic International legal projects, commercial legal advice, assisting in managing the company’s strategic management share plan, hands-on issue resolution, commercial contracts of varying levels of complexity, intellectual property, regulatory compliance and management of international litigation.

You will work with key stakeholders to take decisions on legal risk and, working alongside the Group General Counsel and other members of the Group Legal Team, be involved in delivery of the Group legal activities across multiple countries.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role

  • You must be a UK qualified solicitor with a high quality, legal training from a respected large / medium sized commercial law firm or an in-house legal department.
  • Your experience can come from a range of the mainstream commercial practice areas, such as commercial contracts, corporate, or intellectual property.
  • All levels of PQE welcome to apply and the role may be adapted accordingly.

To succeed, the appointee will be someone who:

  • Is an ‘all-rounder’, self-motivated, enthusiastic; someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and actively get involved.
  • Accountable for their actions and a problem solver; open, honest, and collaborative.
  • Has a passion for excellence and an eye for details but can balance this with coming to quick practical risk-based solutions.
  • Has an entrepreneurial spirit and a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Has high levels of accountability and drive, a sense of urgency and responds well to pressure and deadlines.
  • an approachable ‘down to earth’ style to fit the business culture.

Key Attractions

  • High levels of responsibility, visibility and inclusion.
  • An opportunity to work with a truly embedded legal team which works in sync with the business offering practical commercial solutions within a legal context, not just standard legal advice.
  • Regular management team exposure since sound legal advice underpins all areas of the group’s business.
  • Career development prospects. You will be part of the company’s future growth from a pivotal stage.
  • Significant International exposure.
  • Access to high quality and complex legal work.
  • Being an integral member of a small but supportive team focussed on enabling the business to succeed and delivering outstanding legal services.
  • Convenient commute to the A1M motorway for commuting from the areas around North Yorkshire, Teesside, and the North East.
