Job Description

We are partnering with a large distribution company who are seeking an Assistant Procurement Manager to join their growing team based in Croydon.

This role reports into the Procurement Manager who will be the primary point of contact for this position, and participation in operational meetings with the Management team will be required.

Responsibilities;
  • Obtain fresh goods from importers.
  • Locating fresh fruit that satisfies our requirements for quality, negotiating rates, and cultivating connections with suppliers.
  • Create stock entries for both direct and market purchases.
  • Identifying shorts and longs in the stock position using a daily stock count to determine the closing stock position.
  • Cooperate with Quality Control, Production, and Waste Management: Prior to, during, and following production, you must address or discuss any quality issues that you and the production team may have discovered. If necessary, provide this input to assist the procurement manager in negotiating credit notes.
  • Prepare delivery notes and invoices for processing and approval.
  • Monitor and manage warehouse, accessory, and packaging stock every two weeks.
  • In charge of overseeing the advance purchasing as well as other activities for the London hub when the procurement manager is on annual leave.
  • During our weekly meetings, report on KPIs, fruit quality, and other topics relating to procurement.
  • Discuss the fruit mix, prices, and volumes with the regional managers.

Skills Required;
  • (2–3 years) of procurement experience for fresh produce
  • Motivated and enthusiastic (a "morning person")
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills to be able to discuss quality issues with suppliers, bargain cost pricing, and forge connections.
  • Paying close attention to the little things and being willing to aim high will help you produce products of a consistently high calibre.
  • Be "hands-on" and have a sense of teamwork.
  • The capacity to always retain objectivity and professionalism.
  • the capacity to hear "constructive feedback" regarding quality issues and take prompt action to address them.
  • Orderly document management and organised working style
  • Expertise with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Van driving experience
  • Previous forklift operation (not required)

Working hours: 5:30am-1:30pm, Monday-Friday
