The primary purpose of the role is to assist in the underwriting and marketing of the Property Treaty business line for Lancashire Syndicate 2010.

Specific Responsibilities

  • To accurately record and assess underwriting risk information as directed by the underwriters.
  • Transferring risk information to pricing models
  • Entering of risks on Open Box or other such underwriting systems as are in place
  • Validation of risk information – SCM and USM validation
  • Maintain accurate records of underwriting data, utilising various internal and external software systems

Reporting

  • Help with statistical analysis of the portfolio and on a deal by deal basis
  • Help with the production of regular and ad hoc business reports
  • Prepare aggregate and pricing information for evaluation by underwriters

Underwriting

  • Liaise with brokers, colleagues and external organisations to resolve day-to-day queries
  • Agree standard or minor amendments to risks, within your individual parameters, referring more complex amendments that are outside your individual parameters to the more experienced underwriters
  • Maintain contact with clients, attending meetings as appropriate
  • Investigate queries produced by Underwriters, Operations, Finance and Legal and liaise with brokers as directed to resolve issues as necessary
  • Build up knowledge of wording and technical understanding, market environments as well as risk analysis capabilities
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and research work including portfolio analysis and internal / external presentations to stakeholders

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • Good level of education and analytical skills
  • Progression towards Cert CII / DIP CII or ACII is an advantage
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent attention to detail, self-discipline and time management
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Self-starter with the ability to liaise with individuals at all levels
  • Team player
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet business needs including extended hours if required
