Job Description

The RoleThe team is seeking an Assistant Underwriter to underwrite and assist with the management of the Upstream and Midstream Energy classes of business as part of the broader Groups Energy Product line. Responsibilities will include: You will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting renewal business in a timely and efficient manner within your agreed underwriting authority level. Assist Underwriters with underwriting new business opportunities. Expected to develop and maintain both new and existing relationships with key external partners such as brokers and clients. Analyse terms, specification, actuarial analysis and rating on prospective and existing business Analyse data, including rating, terms etc of the portfolio as a whole – working with all data sources within the company. Work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders to allow for accurate monthly risk aggregation reporting. Identify and implement ways to streamline underwriting processes. Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal procedures. Compile underwriting reports as appropriate. Assist with the administration of risks including regulatory requirements. Liaise with underwriting back up and support teams. Verify and produce ad-hoc reports to the team to assist with strategy and plan execution. Skills and experience: Ability to risk select, which would deliver a profitable portfolio General knowledge of insurance and underwriting within Lloyd’s marketplace Good general knowledge of the Upstream class Knowledge of wordings is preferable but not essential. Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Power BI Data mining, statistical modelling and data visualisation Analytical and problem solving skills Part CII qualification achievement or a desire to expand knowledge within the industry via professional exams is favored Our benefits We offer all employees a comprehensive benefits package that focuses on their whole wellbeing.
