Assistant Breeder | Suffolk | Cereals About Our Client Our client is one of the world's largest seed and plant breeding businesses, which provides farmers worldwide with innovative solutions based on plant genetics, which help agricultural production systems achieve better agronomic and environmental performance. They play an integral part in supplying seeds of a wide range of crop species to UK farmers. About the Job In this role, you will be assisting the senior breeder and breeder to breed new varieties of winter wheat. The role involves hands on day-to-day involvement with all aspects of the wheat breeding programme, assisting with the design, preparation, drilling scoring and harvesting of trials, and field selection of core breeding nurseries. You will also be assisting with the growing, management and crossing for the UK based programmes, preparation of grain samples and supervision of temporary staff. The role will be both field and office based. The Ideal Candidate You will have a HND or degree in science, agriculture or a related subject alongside being proactive, self motivated, well organised and able to work within teams and alone. You will also have the ability to work to a high level or accuracy with a good attention to detail. An agricultural background or previous experience, PA1, PA11 and a fork truck licence would be desirable, alongside experience with tractor and or combine driving, but not essential.
