The Associate Director, Environmental Compliance and Sustainability is the lead role for Vantive’s Environmental Compliance Strategy and execution, as well as sustainability strategy and goal execution.

In addition to providing strategic leadership for developing and deploying environmental compliance policies, management system elements, sustainability goals, and other related programmatic activities, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of key environmental technical projects across Vantive while effectively managing both internal and external resources.

This role provides leadership for proactively advancing global, multi-media Environmental Programs while actively promoting enterprise-wide EHS risk mitigation.

You will build collaborative partnerships and involves stakeholders, influences key business decisions, functional and operational strategies to ensure that the company is positioned for success on completing its external sustainability commitments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work in partnership with multiple collaborators across the company (Corporate Responsibility, Communications, Investor Relations, Legal, and others) to develop ongoing sustainability strategy

  • Complete sustainability strategy, including leading all aspects of required materiality assessments and goal development

  • Leadership for the development, deployment, tracking and reporting of sustainability goals for the company

  • Leadership of providing sustainability information needed in order answer customer queries/RFPs/tenders

  • Coordinate execution of required sustainability reporting, including but not limited to REACH, WEEE, batteries, country-specific packaging reports and others

  • Follow, evaluate and implement approaches to address existing or emerging/new sustainability regulations (such as CSRD/CSDD), regulatory policy and industry practice; determine operational and business impacts and develop/ implement strategies to handle applicable/ relevant requirements.

  • Partner with internal collaborators and actively support the development and execution of EHS&S standards, programs and processes to drive functional vision, mission, policies and strategies.

  • Development and deployment of enhanced environmental programmatic strategies that will provide assurance that operations achieve compliance with applicable regulations and companies EHS management system requirements

  • Tracking and reporting of environmental compliance metrics to closure.

  • Leadership responsibility to actively engage with businesses/sites to advance multi-media environmental projects providing solutions.

  • Effectively collaborate across the business actively seeking feedback and input to improve environmental programs, policies and management systems.

  • Liaise legal counsel, external vendors, regulatory agencies as necessary to assure site level compliance and implement robust risk mitigation strategies to support business operations.

  • Proactively identify EHS&S management and potential compliance gaps, develop corrective measures and implement solutions; leverage lessons learned and develop continuous improvement EHS&S programs.

  • Collect/measure and use enterprise EHS&S data to support risk-based project/program design, planning and execution; evaluate trends for continuous improvement or corrective measures.

  • Communicate the business impacts of sustainability to leadership and partners; use influence to advance sustainability strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Experience prioritizing and handling multiple & technically sophisticated assignments concurrently.

  • Organized, analytical, meticulous, problem-solver, project management skills and focus on results.

  • Experience leading and motivating cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and diverse environment.

  • Experience developing and implementing goals and strategies based on broader organization goals.

  • Validated ability to deliver results through the management of others.

  • Evidence of interpersonal and leadership skills with ability to interface and lead optimally in a team environment.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret scientific, and statistical data.

  • Ability to respond to detailed inquiries and present information to groups and senior leaders.

  • Possess a solid understanding of related subject areas/other functions including manufacturing and operations processes

  • Continuous improvement focus and track record.

  • Green or Black Belt certification preferred.

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum 15-20 years professional level experience interpreting and applying state and federal regulations, as well as other regulatory and management system standards in a manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 10 years leading EHS compliance assurance, governance or related functions and direct people management experience

  • B.S. Degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering or related field required; Possess a detailed understanding of global and EHS legal requirements, EHS engineering, best practices and EHS management systems Experience and familiarity with RMP, Seveso, REACH, ROHS, WEEE, TSCA, EPCRA, SDWA, CWA, RCRA, CAA Title V, and other sustainability regulatory programs

  • Continuous improvement/ lean methodologies implementation experience
