Job Description

MCG Construction Recruitment have excellent opportunities available for an Associate Building Control Inspector to work, on a permanent basis, as part of a leading public services consultancy with an outstanding history in development management, planning policy, and consultancy services.

Using professional and technical skills to deliver statutory building control functions to growth services on a wide range of commercial and domestic projects, the right professional will be involved at every stage of the construction process to create standards that ensure projects are safe, compliant, and sustainable, with a focus on health and safety always. They will also be involved in making provisions to meet the requirements of the new Building Safety Regime.

The successful candidate would be involved in external contract, growth, and resilience work, delivering all building control functions and services, including pre-application meetings, plan checking, site inspections, and visits, interfacing with a variety of stakeholders and organisations, making decisions on works, applications, notices, and other matters, controlled under current acts and regulations, plus the new Building Safety Regime, liaising with partner agencies and authorities as required, and upselling building control and specialist services, including associated provisions.

A HNC, HND, degree, or equivalent qualification in a relevant construction subject, with extensive relevant post-graduation construction sector experience, is essential, and experience previously working within or closely with a Local Authority body is desirable.

The role also requires a chartership with a recognised professional body (CABE, RICS, CIOB, etc.), or demonstrable progress to achieving a relevant chartership, extensive experience in building control inspection, general building surveying, design, project management or similar specialist services, desirably within a local government authority or building control body, knowledge of current building control legislation, associated guidance, and relevant issues, experience of administering all forms and levels of building regulation applications, understanding of operating building control software systems, the ability to undertake duties in accordance with the adopted building control quality management systems and building control performance standards policies, good IT skills, including Microsoft Suite, and the motivation and ability to attend local construction sites, including a valid driving licence.
