PURPOSE OF THE ROLE(s)Continued growth and expansion, alongside recent client wins and superb demand within the RLB space has created new opportunities for an Associate and a Managing Associate to join our dynamic Financial Services Regulatory team in London.Based in London, these roles will form part of our national team of experts working with clients across the UK and internationally; spanning a variety of market sectors where the work covers the full range of products, from consumer credit and mortgages to current accounts, savings and retail investments.To ensure transaction delivery, client relationship development and the continued expansion of the team and practice. THE TEAM Addleshaw Goddard's Financial Regulation Team is one of largest in the UK with a mix of lawyers and compliance professionals based in Leeds, London, and Scotland. The team is led by Rosanna Bryant and 9 other Partners, with 14 dedicated fee earners. The Financial Regulation team is independently recognised as first rate and having "client focus and a pragmatic approach in complicated situations".This role sits within our regulated lending and banking (RLB) offering of the team. Our clients include the main UK clearing banks, building societies, medium and small banks, Fintech firms, credit card providers, non bank mortgage lenders, debt servicers, debt purchasers, debt management companies, brokers, loan providers, home credit lenders and point of sale finance providers. We also advise smaller niche lenders of financial services providers, such as specialist private banks. WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE ROLE(S) You can expect to have the opportunity to play a significant role in working for clients that are key to the Group and to the firm. As part of this you may have the opportunity to undertake client secondments to assist our clients and to build your skills and expertise further.Drafting documentation for new products, including terms and conditions and pre contractual documents for retail financial services products.Involvement in the formulation of new marketing strategies and materials.Support clients to assess the impact of new or proposed legislation and informing their implementation or lobbying strategies.Involvement with authorisation applications to the FCA.Strongly encouraged to take responsibility for business development both engaging directly with client contacts at networking events and by providing training.Continuous self-development is valued, and you will be encouraged to engage with formal training programmes (whether technical or skills based) and to draw on mentoring, coaching and leadership development programmes available to you.Our market leading Associate and Managing Associate development programmes will help you map out key objectives and timescales for your career progression and provide you with a mentor and frequent check-ins. YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE You have, or are about to, qualify(ied) as a Solicitor having gained experience as part of a financial services regulation team, ideally with exposure to regulated lending and banking. It is expected that MA candidates will have at least 5yrs or PQE and a strong foothold in advising clients on regulated lending and banking matters.A real and genuine interest in this area and be keen to grow that knowledge in a proactive way.Adept at in building and nurturing strong client relationships, as well as with internal stakeholders.A keen intellect and a commercial mindset. Ability to demonstrate the provision of pragmatic and tailored advice in a way that supports internal and external clients alike.The ability to actively support complex transactions, liaising and coordinating with fee earners from other relevant disciplines as needed.Be inquisitive and want to understand our clients, their drivers and what matters to them, so that your advice has quality, imagination, and impact.
