As a result of continuing growth, Buckles are are excited to be recruiting for an experienced Senior Solicitor/Associate to join our growing Construction & Engineering team. We can be flexible on office location depending on the candidate’s experience and this is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) permanent opportunity.




Senior Construction Solicitor Role:


We are recruiting for a confident senior Construction & Engineering Solicitor, who can build and develop an existing client portfolio, as well as assist with the ongoing growth of the team. An existing following would be beneficial.


You will lead and manage a mixture of contentious and non-contentious work, whilst also working as part of a team and providing supervision to junior team members. You must be confident, commercially focused, with excellent business development skills, and be able to forge and nurture effective client relationships.

Responsibilities of a Senior Construction Solicitor:


  • Work as part of the Construction & Engineering team on a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters, both in a leading and supporting role and on their own caseload.
  • Support the wider Real Estate team on development matters.
  • Proactively identify and target new business opportunities.
  • Raise the profile of the firm actively within the marketplace and conduct oneself in business and personal life in a manner which does not adversely affect the reputation of the firm.
  • Delivery of individual targets with minimal supervision.
  • Ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and building appropriate relationships with clients
  • Adherence to agreed quality procedures and management systems.
  • Undertake and deliver work in a commercially effective manner.
  • Continually develop technical and non-technical skills to meet client and firm requirements and demonstrate continuous improvement in all areas of work.
  • Take an active role in developing and delivering seminar and workshop content.


Please note some travel will be required for business development, meetings and training purposes.




Skills and Experience for a Construction Solicitor:


  • Relevant professional qualification or relevant industry experience.
  • Strong advisory and drafting skills, and familiar with standard form contracts e.g. JCT, NEC, FIDIC etc.
  • Sound understanding of all stakeholders in construction and engineering projects.
  • Experience in all forms of dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration, adjudication, expert determination and mediation.
  • Team player with strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Uses initiative to effectively manage and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
  • A measured, rational and commercially focused approach to problem-solving.
  • Deals confidently and diplomatically with clients and other stakeholders.
  • Able to provide effective supervision and mentoring to junior members of the team.
