Job Description

As part of this role you will be responsible for delivering a high quality service to a range of clients, involving planning, preparing and undertaking accounts and audit assignments for director/partner review, supervising teams and supporting student development for trainees.

The Role

Key Responsibilities:

· To assist in looking after a range of clients,preparing assignments to strict deadlines for review, reporting either directlyto director/partner or on more complex assignments to senior manager (accounts,tax, briefing notes etc).

· Toassist in co-ordinating compliance service delivery to clients and ensure thatinformation is collected in the most efficient manner, timetabling workwherever possible to suit the needs of the client.

· Toassist in maintaining regular contact with client and client service team.

· Arrange pre-completion meetings withmanagers/directors/partners and completion meetings with clients on timelybasis.

· Toplan the approach to assignments following partner/director briefing, havingagreed fee budget and completion deadline with director/partner.

· To ensure that jobs are adequately resourced,giving due regard to staff continuity where possible.

· To supervise teams of staff onsite, ensuringthey are suitably trained, reviewing their work and providing feedback in atimely manner.

· Give clear and unambiguous instructions to staffon assignments.

· Provide staff with feedback at the end of theassignments using the Firm's IPD framework documentation.

· Identify when staff members may need support,provide support and refer issues where appropriate to relevant line manager.

· To liaise in particular with relevantdepartments to make sure compliance work is planned at the right time.

· Highlight issues which the director/partnerneeds to discuss with the client.

· Review work in progress and fee budgets onmonthly basis, reporting variances from billing target to director/partner.

· Manage own fee targets, prepare own budgets andbills for director/partner approval.

· Plan own and others time to maximum efficiency,manage personal time and working practices to maximize profitability andprotect the good reputation of the firm.

· Maintain the highest standards of personalorganisation, setting an example to more junior members of staff.

· Consistently achieve good feedback from clientsand staff by delivering a high standard of client service both internally andexternally.

· Comply with the firm’s policies, procedures andethical standards.

· Fulfil ongoing obligation to ContinuingProfessional Development and take an active role in own personal development.

· Demonstrate attention to detail.

· Demonstrate technical ability in dealing withaccounts, audit, VAT, tax, PAYE and general business advisory areas compatiblewith client base.

· Spot opportunities to introduce other services 

Experience, Skills and Qualifications required

· Up to date technical knowledge of Auditing andFinancial Reporting Standards and the firm’s software packages.

· Awareness of departmental objectives and key performanceindicators.

· Awareness of the firm’s services and productoffering.

· A sound general understanding of auditing andaccounting principles.

· Knowledge of the CPD programme

· Knowledge of the student competencies framework

· Ability to use sector software, in particularaccounts prep, Excel, Word and e-mail systems.

· To be able to draft letters which arecommercially sensible and appropriate to the client's situation.

· Adapt to different audiences and able tothoroughly research available data and present findings in a way which can beunderstood by both clients and staff.

· Effective communication skills, includingfeedback/coaching, supervisory skills.

· To be able to establish client needs.

· To use data gathered to analyse clientcircumstances.

· To be able to provide answers to clientquestions in a manner and pace appropriate to their needs.

· Possess the ability to communicate with andreport directly to partners or senior members of staff.

· Pay attention to detail.

· Ability to work well within a team.

· Willingness and ability to motivate a team ofstaff, including junior/student members of staff.

Qualifications:ACA/ACCA qualified or qualified by experience.
