We are looking for a either a Finalist or newly qualified Accountants to join a growing practice in North West London. Ideally you will be working toward an ACA qualification or the ACCA.

Role will be split 70% audit and 30% accounts/corporation tax.

About the firm:

The firm is also involved heavily with the international network, made up of several accountancy practices across the globe (including USA, India, Netherlands, France, Singapore, Canada etc). Both the audit and tax teams have constant involvement with the international network, servicing many common clients.

Audit - Types of clients and audit work:

Clients range from many different industries. A predominant focus on both the pharmaceutical and IT sectors however, we also look after investment property companies, FCA regulated companies and solicitors.

ot only does the audit team carry out statutory audits but the candidate will be exposed to other assignments, such as

  • quarterly limited reviews,
  • FCA audits and
  • other assurance assignments.

The audit role:

The candidate will assist within the wider team by obtaining audit evidence necessary to support opinions given. To satisfy this, they will be involved in (but not limited to):

  • Carrying out the planning, execution and finalisation of the audit assignment, supporting the Audit Manager
  • Ensuring that appropriate and sufficient documentation has been obtained to support the opinion and documenting all conclusions
  • Responsible for the completion of whole sections of the audit file and ensuring that all work is carried out to a high standard and all queries are resolved with the client satisfactorily where possible
  • May be involved with multiple audit assignments simultaneously
  • As part of your development you will work with junior staff, allocating them work and briefing them on what is expected of them.
  • Mentor, supervise and assist junior staff on site and in the office throughout the audit.
  • Identify and understand client needs, including sometimes providing initial solutions to client challenges
  • Build strong relationships with new and established clients
  • Active adherence to budget and timetable, bringing matters to the attention of the Manager, particularly when actual time is in excess of budget

What else can the candidate expect:

In addition to their audit duties, during the off-season (typically June to December) the candidate may be asked to support the accounts team with:

  • Preparing financial statements for limited companies, LLP’s, partnerships and sole traders from trial balance stage and incomplete records
  • Arranges for tax computation to be prepared and subsequently post tax journals and update the accounts file for the tax computation received.

In addition to the extensive practical experience that includes on-site client work, the candidate will be constantly supported in helping them achieve their potential. In addition to the support from peers, the candidate is given a fully funded* training/development programme.

About the candidate:

The candidate should be:

  • Have 2-3 years of audit and accounts experience and is looking for progression in their careers
  • Has a good understanding of UK GAAP
  • A team-player, demonstrating that they have the willingness to support others
  • Is self-motivated/driven
  • Has a willingness to learn and develop themselves and other
  • has previous experience of supervising junior members of staff
  • Has the ability to deliver results under pressure
  • Demonstrates good written and verbal communication
