Registered Nurse - Pre-Assessment
Full-time Permanent
The Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle Is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.
We have an opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join their team of staff in the Pre-Assessment department,
This is an opportunity to use and develop your physical assessment skills preparing patients for major complex surgery. You will have the opportunity to work closely with the dedicated anaesthetic team and autonomously in nurse led pre-operative assessment clinic. You will be involved with enhanced recovery pathways for complex surgery.
This is a full time role on a term time contract for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern, over 7 day period.
As the service expands we will be looking to working 7 days a week and as a pre-op nurse you will be required to manage your own workload, refer patients to the Anesthetist and liaise with other services if needed. Experience in pre-operative assessment is desired but not essential as a full training package will be delivered

Applicants should meet the following criteria:
Registered Nurse Level 1 / Diploma / BSc in Nursing. Or
Registered Nurse Level 2 - Relevant Competencies for the role.
Evidence of relevant clinical professional development preferably evidenced by certification RN with valid NMC Registration.
Up-to-date knowledge in area of practice.
Awareness of NMC Code of Accountability.
Excellent clinical applied knowledge which is evidenced based and takes account of national best practice standards.
Previous experience working within the acute healthcare sector.
Experience of customer care, including interacting with challenging customers and situations.
Strong interpersonal skills
Good team worker.
Both punctual and reliable
Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of the multi disciplinary team essential
Previous experience working in a Pre-Assessment department but not essential.
Duties of this role include:
To ensure that standards of patient care are consistently maintained at all times in accordance with agreed operational policies and procedures.
Working to maintain and enhance the customer service and satisfaction of service users.
As a skilled member of the nursing team promote and safeguard the well-being and interests of all patients, employees and visitors.
Be an advocate for patient care, searching for ways to improve the value and effectiveness of care and services delivered.
Encouraging the development of research and audit based clinical practice.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to meet patients’ needs in accordance with agreed local/national standards and evidence based guidelines.
• Develop and continually update clinical skills in line with Local and National standards and recommendations for practice.
• Adheres to policies and procedures and adapts to evidence based changes to practice
• Take responsibility for running their own clinic, completing medical history, giving medication advice, liaising with the multidisciplinary team and act upon abnormal pathology results.
• Support and provide patient education and health promotion.
• Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of care, through appropriate professional practice, delegation and supervision of duties carried out by junior staff.
• Ensures environment is safe, well equipped and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
• Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
