Do not pass up this chance, apply quickly if your experience and skills match what is in the following description.
The Role
We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team on a maternity cover contract with the potential for the position to become permanent. This is a flexible role that can be located at either Peacehaven branch practice or our hospital in Brighton or a fun mix of both depending on your preference!
The clinical caseload is varied and includes theatre time and nurse clinics, there is also scope to work within our referral or hospital teams if that was a preference. As our Peacehaven branch is mainly sole charge with the vet and support team, ideally the right candidate should have at least one-year post-graduate experience. Some stock management experience is also beneficial, although not essential. Ideally our candidate would work 4 days a week with 1 in 7 weekends. However, we believe that flexible working is essential to work happiness, so we will consider part-time, alternative patterns or even a hybrid role with our ECC team at night!
Salary
The salary for this role is up to £33,500 depending on experience.
About Us
We are an RCVS accredited practice located in Brighton, a vibrant city close to the rolling Sussex hills for the best of both city and country living, with genuinely friendly, approachable managers and director. We have excellent working relationships with our member practices, and we have a policy of not transferring inpatients back and forth to Member Practices – they stay with us until they’re ready to be treated as outpatients. We also maintain high clinical standards with extensive point of care diagnostics available to facilitate this and offer an interesting, varied caseload with lovely, committed clients who want the best for their pets. We believe in offering the best possible care for our patients and the highest level of service for our clients. If this is how you like to work, New Priory is the place for you!
Both our branch and hospital are well-equipped with x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, and theatre facilities. Our Brighton hospital also has the benefit of CT, endoscopy, laparoscopy and a bells and whistles theatre. We are a First Opinion, Hospital, ECC and Referrals site with dedicated on-site night staff for continuity of care, so no requirement for out-of-hours, unless this appeals to you! We offer a generous annual CPD allowance with extra funding considered for more advanced studies such as certificates. VDS and RCVS registration fees paid for by us!
About the Team and Culture
Our Brighton hospital has 9.5 first-opinion Vets who work alongside onsite Specialists and Advanced Practitioners in Cardiorespiratory Medicine, Imaging, ECC, Surgery and Endoscopy. This provides excellent learning opportunities for you as well as fantastic clinical exposure. Our Peacehaven branch is a close knit and supportive team of one vet, nurse, NA, and receptionist. Our in-house emergency service means our patients benefit from outstanding care 24/7. We are an encouraging team who truly value the supportive and encouraging ethos we have built within the practice. We have a "one-team" culture, and you'll be working with over 30 clinical team members such as RVNs, SVNs and NAs as well as over 10 support staff.
New Priory value a high standard of patient and client care, are forward-thinking and actively encourage and support our RVNs to pursue their passions and interests. We have nurses with advanced qualifications in all sorts of disciplines including anaesthesia, surgery, ECC and feline medicine. We are a nurse training practice and encourage our RVNs to consider becoming clinical coaches if they would like to.
Applicant Requirements
Our ideal candidate will be friendly, motivated, and keen to work in a supportive team environment. We would ideally like a nurse with some post-graduation experience, particularly for sole charge work at Peacehaven; however, we would consider more recently qualified nurses too, especially if they have had experience in a hospital environment during training.
