We need a specialist, someone that has the depth of relationship with Microsoft and can create collateral, competitive services and continually seek to understand what it is that our customers want.

As a minimum you will be AZ-900 (Azure data fundamentals) qualified but we’d be very interested to hear if you have additional relevant Azure Data certifications.

You will be someone used to doing webinars and compelling presentations sometimes on stage.

You will work closely with the Azure Product Director and Azure Service Architect, helping to shape the data offerings and develop the service.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential Skills

  • Ability to interpret business requirements into technical solutionsExceptional communication and presentation skills (remote and in-person)
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment Including working with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels
  • Worked in the reseller or managed service provider environment in similar roles
  • Ability to drive a project forward even in the face of antipathy or potential barriers. A self-starter whilst equally comfortable working within a structured framework
  • Ability to generate propositional content (text and graphical)
  • Ability to self-organise and prioritise + Understanding how to build scalable, repeatable solutions
  • Empathic – a good listener who can envisage the problems and challenges faced by other individuals in their role
  • Able to apply a methodical approach to problem solving
  • Leadership including the ability to build capabilities in others
  • Passionate about new technologies through thought leadership
  • Previous experience consulting/pre-sales on Azure data services
  • Must have completed at least one of the following Microsoft certifications/specialities or equivalent (current at the time of writing)

COMMUNUCATIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: This role will work alongside the existing Azure Service Architect in the Products & Services team reporting into the Azure Product Director. There will be a strong working relationship with the Azure Service Architect, Azure Pre-sales Solution Architect, Head of Azure Professional Services, Head of Azure Platforms and the C+C Azure Data Platforms team. The Azure Data Solutions architect will participate in a number of recurring service development meetings and also the company’s aims to achieve further Azure Specialists accreditations in the area of Azure Data in the medium term, therefore working with the head of business change on programmatic requirements. The role will be guided by the Azure Product Director to ensure strategic alignment with the aspirations of the business.

External: This role will form part of the Content+Cloud Azure Centre of Excellence. A virtual working alliance across the business incorporating stakeholders from many Azure focussed professional and managed service delivery teams. Initially the role will sit within the Products & Services innovation team with a smaller focus on delivering pre-sales support and helping to build proposition related pipeline

Requirements

Technical Skills Sought

  • Demonstrable experience working hands-on with Azure and Azure Data Services
  • Solid foundational SQL knowledge, including T-SQL query development, query optimisation, Functions, Views, DBCC commands, JSON/XML data-handling etc.
  • Experience of core relational platforms such as Azure SQL and SQL Server 2016 or later – ideally development and admin oriented
  • Experience of Analysis Services, Power BI, Qlikview, Tableau, Azure Databricks, Spark + Experience of Azure Cosmos DB or other NoSQL databases
  • Experience of unstructured Azure storage options (e.g., BLOB storage, table storage, queues etc.) Experience of Azure Data Factory and pipeline implementation
  • Experience of the Azure data analytics platform, encompassing Synapse Analytics, Synapse Link and ideally Azure Databricks + Microsoft DevOps tools and processes (CI/CD)
  • Strong understanding of Azure Active Directory, security and identity + Ability to develop repeatable solutions with automated data ingestion routines, workflows, and mappings for structured and unstructured data

Preferential Skills

  • Commercial acumen and previous involvement in pricing models
  • Previous participation with in-person customer events
  • Outcome focussed; results orientated
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Additional technical skills in Azure services including security, governance and management of data (for example Azure Purview)
  • Ability to conduct online and internal research
  • Experience of competitor hyperscale cloud provider offerings, ability to compare and contrast
  • Experience with Power BI datasets, dashboards and reports
