Job Description

Build data platforms for products that VC and PE firms use every day - more data, more signals and more ways of identifying high-growth companies.

With VC investment skyrocketing over the past few years, the competition to find the next Facebook or Amazon has increased exponentially. This company have already built a platform that allows these companies and their internal researchers to spot interesting talents early on. You’ll be coming in to make a significant impact on the engineering culture, which is very much tech-driven and collaborative.

You’ll have the potential to become a future leader in the business, there’s no doubt about this. Whilst still early stage, they’ve not taken investment and have grown organically based off profits from the platform.

A day in the life for you early on will involve you getting to grips with the data architecture and current platforms in place right now, but to define it further and improve what’s in place right now. You’ll report directly to the founding members, and you’ll be given ownership on the direction of data engineering across the business.

They’re currently using Python, Redshift, RDS, Postgres, on AWS as the core technologies within engineering, but you’ll be able to come in and share ideas on how to make things better. If you feel there’s something that should be done differently, you will be given the decision-making ability to change things.

In terms of your experience, you’ll of course need to come from a strong background in backend engineering and it’s most likely that you will be comfortable with the tech stack mentioned above. Python and databases are of course essential initially. Any AWS experience would be beneficial.

You’ll be paid up to £100,000 as a starting salary plus annual bonus. It’s a flexible working environment too, so you could either be looking for an in-office or hybrid role – two or three days in the office would be most preferable. If this sounds like something that could be of interest, let’s talk!

No up-to-date CV required.
