The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust delivers world class care across three hospital sites. Providing world class specialist palliative care and end of life care to our patients is core to our role and values as a health care provider.
We are looking for a highly experienced palliative care nurse with vision and drive to lead and manage an established palliative care nursing team. You will work within a multi-disciplinary nurse led service across the Royal Free Hospital, Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals and North Camden Community. The candidate will manage an excellent team of clinical nurse specialists and lead the on-going development of palliative care and end of life care nursing across the Trust. The successful candidate will work with the senior leadership team and clinical leads throughout the organisation and with other providers in North Central London (NCL) to deliver an integrated service that is patient and carer focused. The Consultant nurse role demands that you spend 50% of your time working directly with patients, their carers and families, are able to provide visionary leadership in service development, be actively involved in education, and develop your role as a researcher. You will be based at The Royal Free Hospital site, but you will be required to work across all trust sites.

You will need to be a registered nurse with expert knowledge, skills and competency gained through working at a senior level in specialist palliative care. You will have a relevant master’s level degree and be able to demonstrate experience and collaboration in audit, service improvement and research in your portfolio. In return, we are fully committed to your personal development and training needs including doctoral studies.
A passion for the care of patients’ palliative and end of life care needs is essential, as is a commitment to further improving services across the Trust, and the wider NCL integrated care system. You will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, be a role model/leader, be self-motivated, committed and enthusiastic.
