Job Description

We are working with a global firm, recognised as a leading financing law firm in London in theirsearch for a versatile Banking & Finance Associate for its London office. This is an exciting role for associates with 1-5 years PQE who are looking for a diverse finance opportunity, and who will enjoy key benefits such a 30 days paid annual leave, interest free loans, flexible working, and exciting internationalsecondment opportunities.

The practice is highly regarded in the financing law sector and serves public and private corporates, financial institutions, sponsors, credit funds, governments, and sovereign entities. Their multi-specialist approach allowstheirlawyers to work on a variety of transactions. Thefinancing practice includes areas such as:
  • Banking (loan and acquisition financing, leasing, and asset financing)
  • Debt Capital Markets (eurobonds, convertible bonds, high yield bonds, hybrid bonds, private placements, and structured notes)
  • Securitisation & Structured Finance
  • Infrastructure, Energy, and Natural Resources (project financing)
  • Restructuring & Insolvency

These areas are led by six Partner Heads and supported by dedicated Professional Support Lawyers, focusing on know-how, training, and business development. This structure offers flexibility for lawyers to specialize in areas of interest while maintaining a broad practice. The team gain experience across various financing transactions, typically working in at least two or three practice areas. This broad exposure helps their lawyers develop the skills needed to handle complex legal issues and create innovative solutions for our clients.
The majority of the work is international. Many of their clients are based overseas, and our domestic clients often have significant international interests. Their global network ensures access to top international legal advice, enabling them to handle interesting cross-border financing work.

We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile individual to join the financing team with a focus on Banking. The successful candidate should have a solid background in general financing and experience with different financing products and transactions, particularly in investment grade and leveraged financing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drafting, reviewing, and amending legal and commercial aspects of financing documentation
  • Advising on financing elements of corporate and commercial issues
  • Advising on investment grade lending, leveraged/acquisition lending, debt capital markets, and associated derivatives work
  • Developing professional relationships with clients and participating in business development initiatives
  • Managing and supervising the work of other associates and trainees as required
  • Being flexible to work on other types of financing arrangements as client demands require
We do not expect candidates to have experience across all areas. However, a successful candidate should be interested in banking and corporate treasury matters, willing to develop expertise in several areas, and maintain a broad range of work supported by our top-class training and know-how.

Candidates must have:
  • 1-5 years PQE in a City, regional, or leading international firm
  • Experience working on high-value and/or complex transactions with significant responsibility
  • Desire to develop expertise across various financing practice areas
  • Ability to draft, advise, and negotiate on complex transactions
  • Strong academic background and high-level analytical skills
  • Excellent client relationship, efficiency, and transaction management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, intellectually challenging environment
  • Resilience under pressure and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Experience in complex negotiations
  • High professionalism and integrity, with the highest standard of professional ethics
  • Experience working in diverse teams and fostering an inclusive team culture
