- OUTSIDE IR35 - ASAP START - REMOTE WORKING - 6 MONTH INITIAL CONTRACT - NEGOTIABLE RATE Banner 9 Developer, Student Lifecycle team, Computing and Information Services The Computing and Information Services (CIS) is looking to appoint an experienced Banner Student Record System Software Developer to join the Durham University. The Banner system is hosted on Linux servers utilising an Oracle database and Tomcat Application servers. As a Developer, you will work collaboratively with other developers, analysts, project managers, business representatives, end-users and internal and external technical teams to deliver solutions that support effective and efficient business processes and align with University Strategy. You will be experienced in problem solving, communicating effectively and have an ability to prioritise and manage your own workload. What does the role entail? The Developer will initially be working on converting bespoke Oracle PL/SQL code (Packages ,Procedures, Functions etc) to make them compatible with Study Path. Specifically, the Developer will work collaboratively to: * Consult with other analyst/programmers, and end-users to develop and interpret existing functional design specifications to convert existing bespoke PL/SQL code. * Develop and modify technical documentation to support application maintenance, operations, and end-user training. * Develop technical specifications, code and test plans that meet defined standards and procedures. * Create test plans, test data and conduct unit testing for all programming assignments to ensure programs are working correctly prior to release. * Modify existing programs based on approved business needs or upgrade requirements as required. What will you bring to the role? You should be able to demonstrate: * Experience and in-depth working knowledge of Oracle SQL/PLSQL. * Experience of working with Banner and ideally knowledgeable of Study Path and HESA Data Futures. * Strong problem-solving skills, self-starter attitude, and able to work with technical and user groups. * Have the ability to demonstrate knowledge of the Ellucian Banner functional/technical area processes and be capable of providing quality end-user consultation and support. * Strong organizational skills. You may also: * Be proficiency with Banner Application development including Page Builder. * Knowledge of Ellucian Experience * Have experience of working with Ethos APIs and API Management. * Be proficiency with server-side languages such as Java and JavaScript. * Have the ability to work in Linux and Windows environments with good knowledge of Unix / Linux shell scripting. * Be proficient with GIT.
