Beauty Editor
The Independent is looking for a beauty editor to join its eCommerce team on a six-month fixed term contract. The successful candidate will be an experienced beauty editor who has sharp writing and editing skills and a strong understanding of the type of content that will perform well with The Independent’s audience. The beauty editor will have a strong digital news sense and thorough understanding of best SEO practices and work closely with our audience team to ensure that content is performing to its potential, reaching as wide an audience as possible.
We are looking for someone who is organised and unflappable under pressure. A passion and enthusiasm for fitness and wellbeing is crucial.
Key responsibilities
- Work with the broader eCommerce team to assist with the growth of the beauty vertical
- Pitch, write, commission and edit beauty news, reviews, evergreens, round-ups, features, and first-person
- Spot beauty content gaps and trends
- Shoot video as required for social media
Skills
- Experience editing a beauty section on a digital publication
- Organised
- A knowledge of The Independent as a brand
- Strong SEO experience
- Familiarity with using a CMS
