Job Description

Bowland Ecology is a well-established and thriving ecological consultancy. Due to continued growth, we are seeking to appoint a specialist Botanical Ecologist to our friendly and supportive team. The role will be based at our office in central Glasgow with the option to also work from home. The successful candidate must have the flexibility to travel throughout Scotland as required. Level and Scope of role depending upon experience (Botanical Ecologist):

  • Manage own projects and assist with the management of other projects as required
  • Plan, coordinate and undertake habitat surveys including NVC, UKHAB, GWDTE, peatland surveys other specialist botanical surveys as required
  • Production of ecology reports, desk studies and plans, and data input, management and analysis
  • Design and implementation of simple mitigation schemes
  • Assisting with other projects as required
  • Supervision/Training of Assistant Ecologists


Successful Candidates (Ecologist) will:

  • Have a relevant degree level qualification
  • Have membership of CIEEM or equivalent
  • Ideally have a minimum 3 years in practice experience
  • Experience of botanical and habitat surveys, ideally to NVC level and FISC4/equivalent.
