We're Hiring a Business Content & Engagement Manager

Leeds-List is a new-age media company with a unique approach. We write content people want to read, working hard to offer value at every stage of the user journey. Now we’re expanding our business section and you could head up our new team.

Our Business Content & Engagement Manager will take complete responsibility for the business section. You’ll be writing about everything from digital and tech to professional services, education and property, as well as feeding into our social pipeline.

But this certainly isn’t a desk job. You’ll have to embed yourself in the community by attending events, connecting with stakeholders and building an ever-growing list of contacts to help you source stories and champion the region.

  • Office hours 9am-5:30pm, Mon-Fri – flexible working after probation period

Who we’re looking for:

This role would suit a confident, professional and business-minded individual who likes to go out and meet people because relationship building is a huge part of the role. If you have a business network already, that’s a definite benefit, but if not, you need to be committed to building one. And of course, you’ll have to be happy connecting with and interviewing people at every level.

You’ll also have to be an excellent writer. We’d love to hire an experienced writer who’s worked in the business sector, but we’re open to the possibility of hiring someone who has a pre-existing network and a passion for writing, even if you haven’t worked in a full-time writing role. That said, a high standard of written English and the ability to adopt our tone of voice is essential.

Experience required:

Either 3+ years experience in a writing role or 3+ years in a business role with a pre-existing network and a good level of written English.

What you’ll do:

  • Take ownership of business content production
  • Become an active member of the local business community, attending events, sourcing stories, expanding your network and building relationships to inspire content
  • Inform and shape our business content strategy
  • Research, write, proof and build business pillar content
  • Produce the business newsletter
  • Manage and maintain our business inbox, signing up to relevant press lists and nurturing contacts to ensure we’re the first to hear about new developments
  • Capture content and work with the social pillar to create interesting and relevant social stories that give genuine value to the wider business community
  • Source information and images to support our content streams
  • Work with the wider SEO team to identify opportunities and produce content that sits 1-3 for target keywords
  • Take ownership of business idea generation, working with the commercial, social and SEO teams to ensure it meets our wider goals
  • Analyse results to identify opportunities to drive traffic and engagement
  • Use initiative to predict, manage and solve problems on your own
