Quick commerce (q-commerce) is being referred to as the next generation of e-commerce and the dark-stores model is currently exploding across Europe as a result of existing macro trends such as consumers’ growing demand for more instant and convenient options. Whilst the 2020 pandemic has accelerated the trends, the new consumer behaviour is here to stay. Launched in January 2020, Fancy now covers 8 cities across the UK and we’re taking the learnings from these cities and our phenomenal customer base to accelerate growth and coverage rapidly. Role

As Business Development Lead, you’ll be undertaking a unique opportunity to directly impact on the success of Fancy, and how we find the best local partners across the UK. Supporting the Head of Business Development, we are looking for somebody to build and drive a regional team who will convince the best local Food and Drinks brands across the country to partner directly with us in London.

This role calls for a combination of exceptional commercial and sales skills, as well as strong stakeholder and team management experience. As Fancy is such a new business, we are looking for a hugely flexible and resilient individual who is able to switch between strategic initiatives and swiftly pivot into immediate tactical actions the next.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and own the growth of local partnerships across the London region.
  • Identify and close key local partnerships that immediately enhance our ranging and selection
  • Build an intelligence engine to ensure Fancy are aware of all up and coming potential partners within key markets
  • Work closely with Commercial, Buying, Regional & Central Operations teams to ensure partnerships can close effectively and continue to be managed well post-live
  • Develop engaging and effective sales collateral to help explain the key benefits to prospective partners
  • Introduce and manage a sales platform to manage pipelines, leads, conversion and closing of partnerships
  • Hire, develop and manage a high performing team in your area, ensuring cost-effectiveness of our sales function

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, business development, corporate development, commercial-focused roles
  • Seriously impressive track record from pipeline nurturing to close, consistently achieving and surpassing set targets
  • Strong passion for the customer and their needs and wants
  • Analytical approach to everything - utilising data to help measure and make data-driven decisions in your day-to-day
  • Creative mindset in finding new opportunities to successfully grow businesses in unconventional ways
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work with and manage remotely
  • Detail-driven, having high standards in everything that you do, passing this onto colleagues and your direct team members
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Experience leading, motivating and developing teams to reach their full potential
