This growing manufacturing company are increasing their IT function capability in the area of Data Analytics, having a need to improve visibility of data to help with business decisions, interpret results, identify trends and opportunities to ensure the business is achieving the most value from the BI / Reporting assets and data they have, whilst proposing improvements where possible.


Responsibilities -


  • Drive the business intelligence, reporting and data analytics strategy forward.
  • Ensure there is appropriate reporting consumption methods for the different data paths.
  • Drive the BI strategy using the Microsoft data lake and Power BI data sets as the primary data source.
  • Maintain the Power BI first approach.
  • Build and lead a new data approach which can ensure data is accurate, usable and accessible for the business.
  • Drive the business to make the best use of the BI and reporting tools used, should you identify any gaps make recommendations for the introduction of new tools and techniques.
  • Consult the business, develop new and refine / maintain any existing KPI dashboards, reports and data extracts.
  • Ensure use of best practice and appropriate use of the BI, reporting applications and associated tools.
  • Work to rationalise the reporting stacks and tools used in the business to drive the strategic vision.
  • Reduce data preparation time for analysis / reporting and improving the accuracy of insights generated.
  • On-going management / change management of reporting output.
  • Contribute to archiving policies around data.
  • Assist in the governance and structure of key elements of master data.


Skills & Qualifications -


  • Experience implementing enterprise BI and reporting solutions.
  • Experience of Microsoft BI technology such as Microsoft Data Lake, Dataverse, Power BI, Azure Synapse with a Data First Approach.
  • Able to own the analysis, design and delivery of reporting.
  • Proficient formatting data on screen, creating or updating calculations and measures on screen and updating existing data sets.
  • Able to analyse and interpret key financial and non-financial data. Create analytical specifications for signoff by the business.
  • Be a thought leader, develop and own the vision of Business Intelligence and reporting.
  • Experience with tools and applications that provision BI and Reporting output including Power BI and Azure Synapse.
  • Experience of data warehousing.
  • Demonstrated data analytics proficiency.
  • Experience of defining information architecture.
  • Use of applications and infrastructure such as SQL Server (SSRS), direct ODBC.
  • Experience and ability to write complex SQL queries and work effectively with big data technologies.
  • Experience of database performance tuning techniques such as caching and indexing.
  • Strong competence working with SQL Server databases as a data source. Other databases advantageous.
  • Prior experience implementing best practice with regards agreed standard reporting packs or dashboards.
  • Prioritise and manage several projects simultaneously, driving projects through to completion.
