Buyer & Retail Manager

Buying & Product Development
• Source and design bespoke and buy-in products to complement seasonal trends, core collection and the exhibition programme, liaising with internal stakeholders as necessary.
• Build and maintain relationships with a wide range of suppliers to improve working practices and minimise costs.
• Manage day-to-day orders of current lines and overall stock levels, including leading on routine and biannual stocktake.
• Undertake regular product reviews, analysing performance of individual items, product lines and ranges and implement strategy for product selection, development and pricing to reflect the Collection’s audiences whilst achieving optimal product margins, sell through rates and sustainability objectives.
• Create and implement appealing visual merchandising plans seasonally to drive sales and promote accessibility and attainability to diverse audiences.

Management & Daily Operations
• Manage the team of retail assistants: ensuring the staff rota meets business needs; providing team updates on a regular basis; mentoring the team in areas of interest and need, including identifying areas for development and training; and monitoring team performance through regular 1-2-1s and annual performance reviews.
• Deliver and oversee day-to-day operations of the shop and e-commerce site; managing inventory, re-ordering sundries and providing excellent and timely customer service onsite and via the retail inbox and online shop; delegating where possible and leading the team by example with every interaction.
• Assist with deliveries and receive all stock on the EPOS system accurately and without delay to ensure that inventory movement is recorded according to departmental guidelines.
• Analyse weekly sales and put in place proactive weekly plans to maintain income through re-pricing, and re-merchandising and special promotions.
• Manage and oversee all recruitment for the retail team.

Finance & Strategy
• Oversee the Commercial Administrator to ensure prompt processing of invoices and credit notes as well as weekly and monthly financial reports.
• Provide regular sales data, forecasts and financial information to the Head of Commercial and Finance Department.
• In consultation with the Head of Commercial & Front of House, produce, maintain and deliver budgets and annual forecasts based on market analysis and audience segmentation and take responsibility for setting and achieving annual key performance indicator targets.
• Develop a marketing and promotional strategy to put in place a calendar of retail events to maximise seasonal and programming opportunities and work cross-departmentally to implement such plans.
• Produce the quarterly trustee report showing key retail statistics and department updates.
