Job Description

JMC are working with an Aviation company based in Gatwick/Heathrow, looking to recruit new Cabin Mechanics to join their team in either Gatwick or Heathrow.

This is a Permanent Position based in Gatwick/Heathrow.

40 hours per week, working days from 7am - 7pm Monday - Thursday (occasional night shifts may be required in the future).

The Role

The primary purpose of this role is to provide support to the Aircraft Maintenance department regarding all cabin maintenance.

Other duties involve:

  • Be proficient in maintaining aircraft to the appropriate standard
  • Responsible for planning and leading the work of cabin mechanics
  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
  • Assemble and install electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components and accessories, using hand tools and power tools
  • Replace and replenish aircraft fluids, including fuel, oils and lubricants
  • Prepare and paint aircraft surfaces
  • Remove or install aircraft components
  • Maintain repair logs, documenting all preventive and corrective aircraft maintenance
  • Maintain, repair, and rebuild aircraft structures, functional components, and parts such as wings and fuselage, rigging, hydraulic units, oxygen systems, fuel systems, electrical systems, gaskets, and seals
  • Communicate with other workers to coordinate fitting and alignment of heavy parts, or to facilitate processing of repair parts
  • Inventory and requisition or order supplies, parts, materials, and equipment
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of regulatory requirements and any associated changes in relation to UK CAA Part 145, Part M and Part 66
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of requirements and any associated changes in relation to company health and safety policies and procedures as they apply to aircraft maintenance operations, with specific focus on working at height and the use of plant & machinery
  • Maintain an up-to-date aircraft maintenance logbook to demonstrate level of experience and competence gained through the completion of a variety of tasks

Skills and experience required:

In order to be successful in this role the Cabin Mechanic will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • A recognised apprenticeship within the aircraft industry or similar
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements in relation to Part 145
  • Proven work history in a P145 Base Maintenance/Aviation environment
  • Understanding of Health & Safety, Human Factors and Compliance requirements
  • Have a working knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance Production Planning
  • Right to live and work in the UK
