Job summary We are looking to appoint a self-motivated individual with great interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service to work as a FIT Negative Administrator within the Cancer Services department, supporting the Colorectal Cancer team, at the James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.The role will involve administration duties to support the Colorectal Cancer team includingdeveloping and organising data collection to support the process, preparing and inputting data into spreadsheets and utilising available information technology to maintain patient records. Main duties of the job The post holder will be required to have good organisational skills and a willingness to learn. All applicants should possess good levels of communication skills and understand professional behaviour and patient care. Good IT skills and experience working within an admin role are also essential. Previous experience of work within healthcare and with similar IT systems is advantageous but not essential.The role is interesting and varied where candidates require good communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and other staff groups, both by telephone and in person. Job description Job responsibilities To provide FIT Negative Administrative support to the Colorectal Cancer team, uploading of data, providing a professional and efficient service to patients and service users including dealing with enquiries via telephone. To support the booking, monitoring and organising of appointments/cancellations and service redirections/rejections via e-Referral Service, liaising with coordinators and management to ensure these are processed within the required timescale and reporting anycapacity pressures to the Management Team. Person Specification Education and Qualifications Essential Good standard of general education with four GCSEs Grade 3(D) or above including English and Maths or equivalent Evidence of IT skills and healthcare information systems. Knowledge of working with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience of using a Patient Administration System or equivalent Knowledge & Experience Essential Experience working in an administration/secretarial capacity in a healthcare setting An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and data protection issues within a healthcare environment Desirable Knowledge of medical, anatomical, and oncological terminology An understanding of the current national issues affecting cancer Understanding of patient pathways Skills & Knowledge Essential Good attention to detail and methodical in approach Good keyboard/IT skills with the ability to accurately input data Good organisational/time management skills with the ability to demonstrate initiative when balancing work demands Able to prioritise and work on own initiative and as part of a team Ability to adapt to different working practices and areas of work Accurate document presentation skills and attention to detail
