Cataloguer-Clarivate The post holder of the Cataloguer role will prepare catalogue records and classify print books, e-books and AV materials to support the Company’s shelf ready services.
About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments Preferably 1 year experience in cataloguing and classifying in an academic, special, public library or similar organization.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with a diverse range of personalities.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the Internet. It would be great if you also had . . . Postgraduate or graduate level qualification, preferably in Library and Information Science or its equivalent.
Proficient in creating Marc 21 records and classifying in Dewey, LC and NLM.
Competent in use of the Internet and Microsoft Office applications. What will you be doing in this role? Create full or CIP level MARC21 catalogue records (or UKMARC where applicable) to AACR2 or RDA standard.
Source electronic records from internal and external databases, upgrading to full level if necessary
Create classification numbers for items using Dewey Decimal, Library of Congress or NLM Classification schemes.
Provide subject headings for items using Library of Congress subject headings or other schemes as appropriate
Customise Marc records, shelfmarks or classifications as required by the customer.
