Catastrophic Injury / Large Loss Solicitor or Legal Executive – Newcastle

Catastrophic Injury / Large Loss Solicitor or Legal Executive – The team handles technical multi track matters from roughly £250,000 to claims of £5m and above. Whether you are a talented NQ or more experienced fee earner, we would like to speak with you. The Partners are interested to hear from fee earners with claimant or defendant experience who are looking to grow a long-term career with this rapidly growing department.

  • Job Title: Solicitor or Legal Executive
  • Location: Newcastle
  • Term: Permanent
  • Salary: to £70,000
  • Work pattern: Hybrid – 1 day in office / 4 days working from home
  • Reports to: Partner
  • Expertise: NQ+ solicitor or Legal Executive with either claimant or defendant personal injury experience – all the way up to Senior Associate and beyond.

This is an outstanding team advising a range of insurer and corporate clients on only the most complex injury work. Applications are welcomed from qualified Legal Executives and solicitors at all levels right the way up to Senior Associate.

As a guide, prospective applicants should be:

  • 0 to 10 year PQE – this is intended as a guide. The team have made it clear they will readily speak to candidates with more PQE.
  • Experienced in personal injury. Ideally you should have some experience of multi track work, ideally with a sound understanding of indemnity, liability and complex medical issues;
  • Able to conduct telephone advocacy;
  • A good communicator both written and verbal.

A complex injury role tailored to your experience

You will join the team at a level commensurate with your experience. For instance, those at the start of their career will tend to work with an experienced Partner in an assisting capacity, whilst those with experience will be encouraged to build their own caseload whilst leading and developing others. In terms of the technical nature of the caseload, this may include any of the following:

  • detailed analysis of quantum and liability evidence including identifying any discrepancies and preparing chronologies.
  • Interviewing witnesses and drafting witness statements.
  • Drafting pleadings and applications.
  • Analysing medical reports and identifying relevant symptoms in order to instruct medical experts accordingly
  • Producing advice on indemnity, liability, quantum and causation issues as well as strategy advice with supervision from Partner
  • Instructing counsel and attending conferences and JSMs as well as mediations remotely and in person.
  • Attending Court

For those with more experience, you will be taking more of a lead function in your work whilst delegating to less experienced colleagues. You will also have the opportunity to take on more of an operational role in the team.
