Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Category Buyer to join the Procurement team at {My}Dentist.

  • In a flexible hybrid role, the team currently works 2 days in our Support Centre in Kearsley (M26 1GG).
  • Salary up to £37.5k depending on experience with annual bonus opportunities.
  • Line managing an Assistant Buyer in the team.
  • Category Buying management for the Clinical Materials & Labs categories of the business.

What is the role?

  • Category managing expenditure within ‘clinical’ group spend segments.
  • Developing sourcing strategies in conjunction with GSCD.
  • Identifying, evaluating, and implementing cost-reduction activities and areas for process improvement within managed categories.
  • Developing key suppliers to improve performance levels/reduce non-performance.
  • Managing new supplier/product/process implementations via direct liaison and engagement with Practice staff/Ops Management.
  • Managing regular review meetings with key suppliers, reviewing KPIs and SLAs.
  • Managing any supplier performance issues; any document feedback arising from supplier/contractor non-conformances; following up with corrective action plans.
  • Attending regular review meetings with internal stakeholders; attending Ops/CD meetings when needed.
  • Supporting product training initiatives in conjunction with key suppliers and/or manufacturers.
  • Gathering intelligence relating to new products, sources, clinical guidelines, and legislation.

I would be great at that! What skills do I need?

  • Previous procurement experience is essential.
  • CIPS qualification.
  • Previous contract negotiation and value extraction experience.
  • Experience in negotiating contracts.
  • Onboarding supplier/product experience.
  • Commercially led with data analysis skills (Excel proficient).
  • Self-motivated with a passion for both internal and external stakeholder service delivery.
