About us Community Hospice is a charity dedicated to providing free, high quality, compassionate care and support for adults with terminal illnesses, their families, and their professional carers in the London Boroughs of Royal Greenwich and Bexley. At any one time we are caring for around 750 people and in total we care for around 3,000 people each year in the community; in their homes, care homes, in our hospice beds and hospice-based clinics, in the local prisons and in hospital.We are a prominent and respected charity at the heart of the local community. Job description Job responsibilities Responsible for developing and implementing a varied and commercially successful calendar of challenge events to meet budgeted income.To deliver an exceptional level of customer care with highly personalised communications, to build and maintain relationships with all supporters encourage long term support of the hospice.Collaborate with the Community & Events Manager and the Communications and Marketing team, to create engaging stewardship journeys for event participants, aiming to retain existing support and attract new participants.To create detailed and thorough event plans which include event KPIs, contingency plans and stewardship plans for all new eventsTo manage delivery of all challenge events, ensuring compliance with Government guidelines, Health and Safety regulations, GDPR and Fundraising Regulator Code of Fundraising Practise.Attendance at challenge events as required, which may be at weekends and evenings.Review existing hospice-led and third party challenge events.Research, plan and implement new events and improvements.Contribute to the annual event budgeting and reforecasting process.Undertake post event data analysis and evaluation for every event, reporting against KPIs, income breakdown, costs against budget and capturing learningsEffectively work with and account manage external suppliers ( tour operating companies, designers, printers, etc.) as requiredWork closely with the Communications and Marketing team to produce strong and compelling materials and marketing plans for all eventsProactively seek and maintain new relationships to enhance our events.To actively liaise and network with other Challenge Event Fundraisers to gain insights, industry trends and share best practice and knowledge.Deliver presentations on the work of the hospice and how to support.Coordinate volunteer support as required, ensuring clear direction is given.Build on interdepartmental communications with colleagues across the organisation to ensure that all staff are kept informed of the challenge event fundraising programme and relevant activities.Keep the CRM up-to-date, ensuring accurate record keeping and updating of event and supporter recordsWork with the wider Fundraising team to provide support and expertise.Use an approved project management approach to provide support for the delivery of delegated projects to specification, on time and within budget.Plan and prioritise own varied and demanding workloads and impose appropriate deadlines, applying effective time management skills to ensure these are met.Ensure that the best possible customer care is provided to all stakeholders and supporter enquiries/requests are dealt with promptly and professionally.Undertake any other duties as required by Head of Fundraising. Person Specification Qualifications Essential Good standard of education to A level/ NVQ level 3 or equivalent Knowledge Essential An understanding of the hospice and the services that it provides Knowledge and understanding of the not-for-profit sector Understanding of the importance of excellent donor care processes Desirable Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of GDPR legislation and confidentiality and how it applies to role Knowledge and interest in challenge style events Knowledge of social media as a tool for marketing and engagement Experience Essential At least one year experience in a similar role Experience in a working environment of interfacing with a variety of people and delivering excellent customer care Experience of working to targets and identifying opportunities for development Experience of producing and working to project/event plans Experience of databases Desirable Experience of working in a fundraising setting Experience of working with bereaved individuals Skills/Abilities Essential Excellent verbal and written communication Computer literacy Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, email, internet and website Excellent attention to detail Good interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently communicate with a wide range of people at all levels First class organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks simultaneously and prioritise Ability to plan workload of self and others and to meet deadlines Ability and willingness to learn in post and to undertake training and direct own learning
