Job Description

Waldon Telecom is an essential infrastructure services provider to the mobile telecommunication sector in the UK. We work on behalf of large mobile network operators to acquire, design, and construct mobile telecommunication base stations across the country. We are looking for a Chartered Structural Engineer to be part of our MBNL NTQ team in the UK. As the Structural Engineer, you will design in accordance with the customer specifications against the requested demand for new build, lift & shift & upgrade activities on telecoms sites on the MBNL NTQ portfolio for BT, EE and 3UK. You will be working within a well-established & successful team environment, with in house CAD, structural design resources. The role will be home, and office based with site visits as per project demand. What will your key responsibilities be? Supporting the project team with client forecasting ensuring deliverables are provided within the Service Level Agreement. Attending daily internal progress meetings. Creating structural design scope and feasibility reports for use by Designers. Understanding company requirements and translate these into concise briefs for use by company partners. Being a strong advocate for Health and Safety and Quality. Work with the Design team to identify best practice for Health and Safety. Reviewing proposals to consider that the structural design offered by Design team meet the scope requirements, and should they not ensure there is a clearly documented rationale as to why the chosen solution has been selected. Liaising with company Design, Acquisition and Deployment teams. Working with company partners and provide design feedback, resolve design queries, and drive good practice throughout the supplier base. Ensuring the designs comply with technical documentation. Acting as Design interface between Structural Design and other departments and external suppliers. Analysis of Telecom structures and the production of calculations for projects such as: Civils/Steel Frame /Piling and concrete, Telecoms rooftop design. Attending site to survey structures and identifying required elements to allow structural calculations to be made. Production sketches and drawings both by hand and by AutoCad. Ensuring project work is carried out within agreed deadlines and within budget. Checking contractor designs and fabrication drawings. Design in accordance with current design standards and CDM 2015 Regulations and Health & Safety regulations. What skills & experience are we looking for? UK Full Driving Licence. BEng (Hons) or MEng Civil / Structural Engineering. IStructE or ICE Chartership or working towards. Understanding of Building & Health & Safety Acts, including Building Regulations, British Standards/Eurocodes & Construction (Design & Management) 2015. Knowledge of Building construction methods. Computer literate for MS Word, MS Excel, Emails, MS PowerPoint. Ability to interpret and author documentation to a good standard. Design flair and ability to propose solutions to clients. Ability and willingness to line manage and mentor a small team of structural engineers working on the project under you. Excellent communication skills. Energetic and self-motivated. Enthusiasm, imagination and willingness to learn and adapt. Experience in the use of AutoCAD, Robot Tedds will be considered as an advantage. Construction knowledge/experience from Telecoms design consultancy/contractor will be considered as an advantage. Why choose us?
