Job Description

Acuity Associates is currently representing a London-based B2B Media and Subscriptions business, backed by private equity, and currently executing a growth strategy fuelled by both organic expansion and acquisitions. The company has consistently demonstrated growth in the UK market and is now setting its sights on international expansion in Europe and the US.

This pivotal role presents an opportunity for a Financial Controller or Divisional FD to transition into their first Group CFO position. Precision, accuracy in conveying numbers, and a keen eye for detail are imperative traits for the successful candidate.

As the primary finance leader, the Finance Director will work closely with the CEO and the broader executive team, receiving mentorship aimed at enhancing profitability across the group. The overarching objective is to strategically position the company for a successful exit event within the next five years.

The role necessitates a blend of strategic vision and operational proficiency. The Finance Director will play a central role in establishing, sustaining, and scaling a high-performing finance function. While prior exposure to private equity is not obligatory, mentorship from the PE board will be provided to foster professional growth.

This opportunity is tailored for a seasoned finance professional poised to step into their inaugural Group role, with the promise of substantial financial incentives, including a significant seven-figure exit bonus.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
  • Significant experience with B2B subscription models OR B2B Media, with preference given to candidates possessing expertise in both.
  • A senior finance leader/manager with a proven track record of creating shareholder value in a complex, international business environment.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering ambitious growth plans in previous roles as a divisional FD or FC.
  • Proficiency in driving financial process enhancements.
  • Track record of achieving cost reduction and efficiency gains.
  • Financial Acumen: Possesses comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, coupled with a strategic mindset and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ambitious and Energetic: Exhibits a strong desire to grow alongside the role and the business, driven by ambitious growth objectives and characterized by energy and resilience.
  • Relationship Builder: Capable of fostering strong interpersonal relationships across the organization, while tactfully presenting necessary business challenges in a constructive and respectful manner.
  • Excellent Communication: Demonstrates exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
