Due to retirement of the current post-holder, we are looking for our next Child Contact Centre Manager to join ourprofessional, highly motivated and friendly team based in Dundee, overseeing the operation of our Children’sContact services covering Tayside and Fife.

Barnardo's Dundee is seeking passionate and motivated applicants in our Child and Family Support Service for aGroup Co-ordinator project worker 2.

We are looking for people to join our Dundee team who have a genuine interest in working with children and familiesproviding support in a variety of settings including the family homes, schools and community locations andprovide support either individually or with groups of children, young people and parents/carers. The servicesupport includes working with children who have additional support needs/ disability and their families.

Our aim is to support children and families using a whole family approach, focusing on strengths, building on assetsand interests to support them to achieve best possible outcomes and to feel included and supported within theircommunities. We use a relationship based approach to build trust with the children and their families to developtheir capacity and resilience. The service operates as part of a multi-agency approach, working with partneragencies and professional stakeholders, including working as part of a team that may comprise of staff drawnfrom across different (partner) organisations, building on a collaborative and co-produced approach to findingsolutions.

Responsibilities include:

Leading on, and as appropriate participation, in the organisation and co-ordination of support services includingactivity groups, enabling activities, short breaks (including residentials) for CYP/families who have adisability/additional support need. Connecting with partner agencies/organisations to support events/activitieswithin the community.

Engaging with CYP and families to inform the further development and co-design of supports and relatedactivities.

The role includes supervision of as and when and project worker staff, including volunteers, and delegation of tasksas appropriate. Identifying and co-ordinating any training needs for as and when and volunteers. Support widerworkforce development planning.

Applicants should be committed, enthusiastic, motivated and have excellent communication skills and able to work in acollaborative manner, evidencing a respectful and inclusive approach. You will be creative, innovative,adaptable and dynamic and able to deliver a person-centred and robust service to children and families. The useof a warm, nurturing and empathetic approach is essential. Applicants should be able to evidence workingknowledge of Children's Rights. Have direct practice experience working with children and families andevidence an awareness of child/adult protection issues. Applicants who have experience of working with childrenwith a disability is preferable but not essential.

The position includes effective time management balancing direct support to children and families' needs with theadministrative requirements of the post.

The post is driving licence essential and the use of a car .

A flexible approach is essential to providing support when families need it which will include early morning,evenings and weekends.

The successful applicant will require to be registered with SSSC.

This unique role offers the opportunity to listen to and work directly with children and young people with experienceof care, in an individual relationship-based advocacy role, and within participation and group activity acrossShetland.

The post-holder will be a key member of the Advocacy and Participation team, supporting young people from acrossShetland to ensure their rights are upheld and their voices are heard. These roles offer the opportunity toprovide independent advocacy, children’s rights, and participation opportunities for children and young peoplewho are looked after, Care Experienced, or subject to formal processes and structures. You will activelyparticipate in child plan meetings, children’s hearings, and other formal processes, as well as assistingchildren and young people to prepare for them. In partnership with other professionals, carers, andorganisations, you will help to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people by keeping detailedrecords of the work you undertake, writing liaison reports, and monitoring statistics.

As a vital part of the work of Who Cares? Scotland, these roles include facilitating group opportunities for and withchildren and young people across Shetland. This includes providing engagement and participation opportunitiesthroughout the Who Cares? Scotland local and national network, as well as meeting with care experienced childrenand young people to introduce the service in agreement with the local authority. Raising awareness of Who Cares?Scotland and its services with children, young people, professionals, and carers you will also be responsiblefor facilitating training amongst corporate parents.

The right candidates for these posts will be able to form positive relationships with children and young people andhave good interpersonal skills which demonstrate compassion, empathy and understanding for lived experience. Youwill be confident communicating with individuals and groups, both in written and verbal format, with the abilityto adapt to a wide range of contexts. You will work autonomously, prioritizing and managing your own diary tomeet organizational and young people’s needs. You will be able to evidence your work and keep accurate recordsof advocacy interventions taken. You will take enjoyment from working collaboratively with partners, believingin equal opportunities and inclusive working.

Committed to children’s rights, you know that all young people can make transformative change happen in their livesif given the opportunity. You will demonstrate knowledge of the current structure, developments, policy, andpractice in relation to children and young people experiencing care in Scotland. Flexibility is a must, and someevening and weekend work, including occasional overnights, may be required, along with a full driving licenceand access to transport.

About the role

We want to creative positive change in the health system to achieve the change children and young people with canceracross the UK, and their families, need. This means amplifying the voices of young cancer patients anddelivering evidence-based campaigns that make change happen.

This Policy and Public Affairs Officer role is responsible for supporting the Policy, Influencing and Voice Team withpolicy and public affairs expertise to deliver the key components of our influencing work in Scotland, Wales andNorthern Ireland. You will help us influence the system for children and young people with cancer and theirfamilies, so we can change experiences of having cancer and ensure children and young people’s voices areheard.

This includes:

  • monitoring the policy and influencing landscape in each of the devolved nations
  • developing policybriefings, position statements, consultation responses and reviewing evidence
  • building and maintainingexcellent working relationships with elected representatives, officials, external partners and your colleaguestoo
  • delivering our public affairs work in the devolved nations
  • supporting our excitingcampaigning activities, tailoring to each nation

Young Lives vs Cancer is open to and in support of flexible working. Your flexibility requirements and that of therole will be discussed at interview stage with you.

This role is home-based and can be based anywhere in the UK, but the successful candidate will ideally be based ineither Wales, Northern Ireland or Scotland, and will require occasional visits to Young Lives vs Cancerworkplaces.

Home-Start Glasgow North and North Lanarkshire is a vibrant community charity making a big impact on families withyoung children (under 5) in the local area. Our trained volunteers and staff help families through challengingtimes. In Scotland, over 1,500 volunteers support over 3,500 families and 6,500 children each year throughcompassionate, confidential help to parents when they need us most. The parents we support are often overwhelmedand isolated. They may be struggling with mental health, illness, disability, multiple birth, poverty, domesticabuse, separation or trauma. We provide both 1:1 and group support to families, helping them to cope with thestresses and strains of life and make sure they have the skills, confidence, and strength they need to nurturetheir children.
