The role

As a Strategy & Operating Office Manager at Direct Line Group you will be responsible for ensuring alignment of the CISO roadmaps to the CISO Strategy and group priorities. You will provide assurance that strategic milestones are met in a timely manner and resolve issues that may compromise delivery to the agreed quality without impact to risk appetite. Additionally, you’ll ensure proactive financial management of CISO opex and capital expenditure, providing cost effectiveness measures and ensuring appropriate financial reporting.

  • This is a hybrid opportunity with a requirement to collaborate in our London office c.once per week.

Who you’ll be working with

You’ll join our CISO Strategy and Operating office who are responsible for the creation and delivery of a consolidated CISO strategy (People, Process and Technology) and aligned roadmaps. They provide assurance and oversight of the CISO Change Portfolio and are responsible for all aspects of financial management across the CISO function, including CISO investments and operational costs, identifying efficiencies and embedding cost saving opportunities with optimal outcomes.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensure that all CISO investments deliver the desired outcomes to protect our customers and business.
  • Coordinate a prioritisation plan across all CISO portfolio to ensure alignment with Business, Technology & CISO strategies, group priorities and business value.
  • Oversee the CISO Change portfolio, working with programme/project teams to manage project milestones and resolve issues that may compromise delivery.
  • Identify inter-dependencies and conduct impact analysis between programmes and projects. Evaluate risks and issues and propose mitigating actions.
  • Coordinate with all CISO business areas to facilitate effectiveness and timing of programmes / projects with regulatory commitments.
  • Facilitate and present content for governance forums and communicate actions.
  • Review and approve post-programme and post-project evaluation reports and benefits to ensure the strategic goals have been enabled/met.
  • Manage CISO finance dashboard to ensure strategic investment allocation is on track and any financial risks and/or opportunities are identified and reported.
  • Manage CISO operational budgets. Annual budget planning, forecast vs. actuals month end analysis and risks & opportunities tracking.
  • Provide advice and guidance to all levels of leadership for successful management of all CISO operational costs.
  • Review operational and strategic investment requests to provide the leadership team with recommendations to enable effective decisions.
  • Provide advice and assistance to CISO team members on change processes and financial management.
  • Manage the development of automated metrics and reports that provide a real time compliance ‘dashboard’ for use at all levels of the organisation and enables tangible and visible risk reduction.
  • Develop stakeholder relationships and ensure communications are timely and effective.
  • Support and act as delegate where required to Head of CISO Strategy & Operating Office.

What you’ll need

  • Experience working in a similar role ideally within Information Security and/or Financial Services
  • Knowledge of Project Management processes and tools
  • Ability to demonstrate management of effective relationships with business stakeholders, technical teams and 3rd party vendors.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present concisely and effectively based on appropriate level of management interaction.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team at all levels and across all business units.
  • Motivated to delivering quality and striving for continual improvement.
