Civil Design Engineer
An International Civil Engineering consultancy are seeking a Design Engineer to join their growing Devon office.
As an organisation they are a leading consultancy working within the built environment and experts within civil and structural engineering, environmental and geo-technical engineering, infrastructure large-scale water networks and treatment plants.
As the appointed Design Engineer you will have the opportunity to design projects from conceptual to detailed design stage. You will also interface with a wide range of world-class architects, master planners, specialist design consultants, leading construction contractors, and the relevant government authorities.
Schemes vary in size and you will be involved in the various life cycle elements of developments from conceptual work, through planning, leading to detailed design and approvals.
Key responsibilities and duties
- Providing outline and detailed civil engineering outputs from inception to completion of schemes, including working alongside site installation / construction personnel
- Produce designs, together with associated drawings and calculations for technical approvals and construction.
- Liaise with water authorities, Lead Local Flood Authorities and other stakeholders to agree designs.
- Preparation of conceptual and outline designs for structural schemes
- Carry out detailed design calculations to up-to-date Eurocodes
- Liaise with the design team and client throughout the project and monitor progress and quality during the construction phase
- Carrying out structural surveys of buildings and structures and providing advice on any issues that may arise
- Visiting sites during the Construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to Contractors

Essential Skills and Experience:
- Possess an industry applicable ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent
- Pursuing chartership with 5+ years' experience within the piling / Geotech industry
- Possess excellent communication skills
- Be adept at working closely with construction staff in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft packages (experience with AutoCAD software would be an advantage) Ideally candidates will have experience / knowledge of:
- Civil design of structures, ground anchors, soil nailing, deep soil mixing, deep foundations.
