The Opportunity:

The Claims team has been built to meet the evolving needs of our business and our customers. The team is a formidable force for QBE, comprising over five hundred people spread across multiple locations within UK and the rest of Europe, and reflecting the diversity and strength of the region. Handling over 200,000 claims a year, QBE has built a reputation for excellence within the market and is widely recognised for its technical expertise

You will be responsible for efficiently handling a dedicated portfolio of complex management liability and financial institutions claims from cradle to grave.

Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:

  • Proactive handling of management liability and financial institution claims from first notification of loss to settlement  

  • Actively working with a panel of vendors during claims incidents to deliver a quality service within required timeframes

  • Establishing coverage early and communicating promptly with customers

  • Ensuring prompt and accurate reserving, identifying and pursuing relevant third party recoveries and seeking to reduce claims leakage

  • Managing a caseload, capturing key data and meeting service level requirements

  • Understanding and implementing the Claims strategy, to enable delivery of overall business targets

  • Developing good relationships with internal and external stakeholders, driving excellent customer service

  • Ensuring accurate and timely update of QBE’s systems as and when required

  • Maintaining knowledge of the claims portfolio and providing information to others on request, to support underwriting and claims decisions

  • Supporting the development of the Core claims team as required

To be successful in this role the ideal candidate would need to demonstrate the following qualities and abilities: 

  • Experience in management liability and/or financial institutions claims handling

  • Able to prioritise where necessary, identify deadlines and proactively manage a caseload

  • Good understanding of insurance policy wordings

  • Experience in dealing with external customers, demonstrating strong negotiation skills

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of credibly engaging with customers and vendors

  • Strong investigation skills

  • Confident in the use of systems and data, including producing MI

  • Collaborative approach and enthusiasm

It would be advantageous to have the following skills:

  • Experience handling in professional indemnity and/or cyber claims

  • Experience in law, litigation or claims in multiple jurisdictions

  • Good understanding of Lloyd’s and subscription markets

  • Experience with Guidewire and ECF
