A Clinical Dietetic Manager is required to join our large, friendly, Dietetic Department at Newcastle Hospitals. There is the opportunity to undertake this role on a full time or part time basis.
The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for a dietetic team of approximately 40 staff across our two main acute sites, the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospital, providing operational management and professional leadership as well as deputising for the Head of Newcastle Nutrition as required. The acute based Dietetic teams have a range of qualified staff, together with support worker and administrative support.
This post is based across two sites, at the RVI site in Newcastle City Centre, and the Freeman Hospital site. The adult dietetic team is a progressive service, providing local and regional specialties. You will be joining an established, dynamic and friendly team of dietitians working within various multi-disciplinary specialities including Oncology, Gastroenterology, Cystic Fibrosis, Renal, Cardiothoracic Services, Intensive Care, Intestinal Failure, Allergy and many more.
You will play an active role in our small supportive Dietetic Management team including our two other Clinical Dietetic Managers (Paediatrics and Community) and the Head of Service. The management team meet regularly to set the strategic direction of the service, monitor clinical governance and service performance.
You will have experience of operational management and leadership as the post holder will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day staff and service management, including recruitment, liaising with the human resources and finance department and monitoring performance of the adult dietetic team. Although the post will not involve a direct clinical delivery role, in order to support clinical dietetic staff, you will need advanced clinical dietetic knowledge and experience.
You will be organised and able to prioritise time/tasks, be flexible and have excellent communication skills. Strong leadership skills are required, you will have experience of motivating and supporting the development of others.
