In this role, you will be a part of a multi-disciplinary psychological therapies team which covers the male adult acute inpatient wards and forensic services at Farmfield Hospital. The post will be split across both services, but the exact split can be discussed and may depend upon your experience in each area.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be actively involved in providing assessments, formulations, individual and group-based interventions, and giving psychological advice to aid clients along their recovery pathway. As a member of the active Psychological Services Department, you will have a positive, problem-solving approach and contribute towards the service development initiatives currently being undertaken by the department.

You will complete all recording and reporting tasks associated with clinical work and will contribute to training and supervision of staff as provided by the psychological therapies team, supervise assistant psychologists as well as providing debriefs and reflective practice to staff.

There is a strong emphasis on teamwork with regular supervision and CPD opportunities available to support you in reaching your career aspirations. Farmfield has adopted a trauma informed care approach and experience of working with clients who have experienced trauma and working within this approach would be an advantage.

Although this post is full-time, part-time applicants would be considered as would newly qualified applicants or trainees on a recognised training route nearing completion.

Your responsibilities will include:
To work autonomously to provide a specialist psychology service to patients as agreed by the Lead Psychologist and in discussion with wider MDT.
To undertake specialist assessments
To provide specialist interventions according to formulations based on an appropriate conceptual framework, NICE guidelines, evidence from research, and in accordance with the wider MDT formulation and interventions.
To be involved in running therapeutic groups on the ward as agreed.
To continually monitor risk of all patients and complete risk assessments as required.
To run reflective practice sessions for staff as agreed within the psychological therapies team and in discussion with wider MDT.
To provide advice and debriefs to staff in managing patient incident on the ward as required.
To run and / or contribute to training sessions for staff and other colleagues as agreed within the psychological therapies team and in discussion with wider MDT.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
BPS recognised psychology degree
HPC Registration
Chartered Psychologist status
Preferably be an approved supervisor within the guidelines of the BPS and relevant division
Understanding of evidence-based psychological practice
Ability to apply psychological knowledge to a secure psychiatric setting
Experience of applying psychological knowledge to a forensic or psychiatric setting
Previous experience of conducting research and project working
