The Gender Identity Clinic (GIC) is the largest and oldest gender clinic in the UK, dating back to 1966. We accept referrals from all over the UK for adults with issues related to gender. We accept referrals for patients who are aged 17 years and older onto our waiting list. Patients will not be offered an appointment before their 18th birthday.
We are a multi-disciplinary team, including psychologists, psychiatrists, endocrinologists, speech and language therapists, and nurses. We work together to provide holistic gender care, focusing on the biological/medical, psychological, and social aspects of gender.
Main duties of the job
Working together with the Consultant Lead Endocrinologist, the CNS plays a vital role, in monitoring and managing physical health and endocrine needs of patients under the care of the Gender Identity Clinic. This work is pivotal in ensuring that hormones are initiated, reviewed, and altered with minimal delay. This requires forming close working relationships, on-going consultation support to GPs by consistently enacting the Shared Care Prescribing Protocol. In partnership with other members of the Multi-disciplinary Team, the role supports the patient's safe progression through the established care pathway.
The post holder will foster a culture of networking in an open and transparent way with internal and external partners. You will act as a positive role model and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other staff.
