Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a qualified children’s nurse to join our team of clinical nurse specialists caring for children with Inherited Metabolic Disease. The role is a fixed term contract and will involve taking on responsibility in caring for children with Lysosomal Storage Disorders, including the delivery of enzyme replacement therapy via intracerebroventricular infusion for children with Batten Disease. The role will also include responsibility for consent to research as part of a multi-national study for the study of Inborn Errors of Metabolism.

Main duties of the job

Our small team strives to provide the best care and support for children and families from birth to transition to adult services. This job is varied and interesting and as part of the team you will work closely with other team members and members of the wider multidisciplinary team delivering first class care. You will need to be self-motivated, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to organize, prioritize and co-ordinate care.

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist within the team, you will provide expert knowledge to families and professionals, be a point of contact and provide emergency advice during illness. Career enhancement is supported with attendance at relevant conferences and training courses and professional development is encouraged.
