Job Description

To be responsible for the Occupational Therapy service within CAMHS Tier 4 inpatient Service on an individual and group basis to children, young people (age 0 - 18 years) and their families who have been referred for occupational therapy within the CAMHS service. Facilitating the recovery journey through OT specialist input.

To work flexibly to provide an Occupational Therapy service within CAMHS Tier 4 inpatient Service.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Main duties of the job

Provide specialist OT involvement using evidence-based client centredprinciples to assess, plan, implement and evaluate intervention with peoplewith complex Mental Health needs and their families/carers.

To be responsible for the planning, developing and evaluating of theOccupational Therapy provision. Working in close liaison with othermanagers and lead clinicians within CAMHS Tier 4 inpatient Service.

To promote the maintenance of functional independence in self-care,productivity and leisure, through the use of activity.

To participate in implementation of best practice and servicedevelopment, particularly embedding principles of the RecoveryAgenda into service delivery.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with one's relevant OT professional body (HCPC registration)
  • Evidence of further education or continuous professional development.


Information Technology

Essential

  • Ability to use Trust IT systems including e-mail and electronic clinical records


Knowledge/Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience as a qualified OT at band 6 level or equivalent
  • Broad experience of working with clients with a range of mental health problems
  • Experience of supervising staff and students
  • Experience of both group and individual work
  • Experience with Looked after and Adopted children
  • Multi-agency working experience
  • Research experience - undertaken or assisted in clinical research within Mental Health or experience with clinical audit, quality improvement


Desirable

  • Experience of multidisciplinary working
