Job overview

We have a part-time permanent vacancy of 25 hours per week for band 7 Clinical/Counselling Psychologist at Epsom CMHRS ( Community Mental Health Recovery Service). We welcome final year trainees who are soon to complete their doctoral training to apply. If not yet HCPC registered person will be placed on a band 6 pay scale until registered with HCPC, following which they will be on band 7 pay scale.

We are located within walking distance from Epsom train station on Upper High Street in Epsom. We have free onsite parking.

We offer regular supervision and CPD events. You will have opportunities to regularly connect with psychologists working in the East locality of our Trust.

Main duties of the job

· Tobeprofessionallyandlegallyresponsibleandaccountableforallaspectsofclinicalwork andcare.Tomaintainhighstandardsofcareinallareasofpracticeinaccordancewiththe HCPCCodeofConduct, professional guidelines and Trust Policies and Procedures. To act within the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act (2005). TobeawareofandimplementSafeguardingAdultandChildProtectionPolicies,Procedures andlegislation.

· Tocarryoutcomprehensive psychological and cognitive assessments and formulation,plan implementandevaluatedeliveryof psychologyinterventions and consultations to support people with specific needs.

· Toactivelyinvolvepeopleindevelopingandagreeingtheirowncareplan,toactasan advocateandensurethatthereisproperregardfortheirdignit y ,choic e ,self-esteem,racia l , cultural,sexualandreligiousneedsandpreferences .

· To work creatively to adapt verbal and written communication to meet the needs of people who use our services

· To undertake comprehensive risk assessments and develop effective risk management plans.

· To establishandmaintain effective partnerships andrelationshipswithcolleagues,otheragencie s ,people whouse servicesandtheir carers and support staff.

Person specification

education

  • Psychology Degree accredited by the BPS at 2:1 or above OR • Psychology degree accredited by BPS* at 2.2 and additional relevant Masters qualification OR • Degree plus Masters level conversion qualification accredited by BPS* • *BPS – British Psychological Society
  • Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology qualification or equivalent or close to completion of this doctorate in next 6 months

Experience

  • Experience across a range of psychological models including systemic, behavioural and individual therapeutic
  • Experience of working in an adult mental health setting
  • Experience of working in a secondary care adult mental health setting
