POSITION SUMMARY

Heading an inclusive, consumer-obsessed and commercially driven team, the Trade Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing Clinique brand trade marketing strategy for the UK & Ireland.

WHAT THIS ROLE DOES

This includes the key focus areas:

  • Lead the execution of the trade marketing omni-strategy for UK and Ireland, by delivering best-in-class in-store and online presence and identifying growth opportunities, while cultivating long-lasting customer relationships with our retail partners
  • Full ownership of the differentiated promotional calendar; responsible for building a plan that delivers on our Retail, Net and Profit goals in our bricks and online channels
  • Own and drive the brand vision, strategy and implementation of Clinique's Peak and high traffic moment campaigns, close collaboration with VM and consumer engagement teams to deliver on our recruitment and retention objectives
  • Own and drive the implementation, forecast and profitability improvement of the gifting programme
  • The purpose of the role is to position Clinique as a key partner towards our retailers in line with the brand objectives as well as drive brand distortion through strong retail differentiation/promotional strategy / gift strategy/HTM strategy and execution.
Working in partnership with our Product Marketing and Commercial Manager the Trade Marketing Manager is responsible for enhancing consumer experience and connection to the brand shaping and driving bespoke omni-channel retail marketing plans across the UK & Ireland, this to ensure strong commercial momentum.

You will provide the business with visibility on trade marketing plans and direction onto opportunities and risks. You will monitor marketing performance on retail events identifying best practices and influencing future plans, driving revenue growth through marketing. Fully responsible for the Event, Gift with Purchase and retail marketing budget

The role has 3 direct reports however will work across many of the brand functions

Key roles and responsibilities, include:

  • Own and lead the development and execution of Clinique's 360 differentiated retailer calendars (promotions, events and activations, partnership marketing), to deliver on our retail, net, and market share objectives
  • Ensure the marketing and demand plans feed into the retail and net projections, identify retail and net gaps and deliver profitable mitigation plans
  • Forecast, build, implement and lead 360 Peak campaign that deliver on sales & marketing objectives and maximise brand awareness. Work closely with media, visual merchandising, consumer engagement teams to ensure fulfilment of all campaign objectives
  • Unlock further growth opportunities by optimising pricing, forecasting, leveraging retailer partnerships and exclusive activations and incremental distribution; reignite bricks business. Demonstrate openness and agility in the business direction and understand the impact of different decisions to the P&L
  • Be the marketing point of contact for all retailers, ensuring a smooth relationship and unlocking the best possible in-store visibility for the brand
  • Own trade marketing and COG budgets
  • Flagship Retail Program - from creation to execution : Using insights into consumers' profile and behaviours define a compelling marketing strategy for Clinique Flagship doors and increase consumers' engagement and conversion to the Clinique brand
  • Own and drive the implementation, forecast and profitability improvement of the gifting programme
  • Direct liaison with Clinique Global Teams on strategy and product forecasting : Shape the global relationship in order to collaboratively create gift, sets and LL programme that resonate with the UK shoppers and answer our profitability needs
  • Manage the creation and development of local sets and ad hoc local programmes, including Boots Star Gifts and any exclusive retailer big bet sets
  • Manage the promotional excess (GWP and collateral) to stay below the 5% target
  • Analytics: conduct competitors audits and benchmarking, trend tracking to identify risks and opportunities and shape retail marketing plans accordingly
  • Set up best practice and reporting system in order to provide the business with a consolidated view of the retail marketing plans efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Ensure smooth adaptation and integration of globally created content into Clinique marketing plans with key retailers.
  • Delivers a fully integrated plan ensuring strong coordination and alignment with the online team
  • Act as the Point of contact for Retail marketing direction working with key content stakeholders (Sales, Education, VM PR & Comms, CRM, Social...)
  • Define and drive Clinique retailers' exclusive programs as well the retailer programs, including special events
  • Responsible to elevate and drive the overall in-store retail experience to deliver on business objective.
  • Develop talent and capabilities within my team : Manage, motivate and develop the team, shaping their skills and mindsets to develop them into commercial marketeers with a 360 view of the business that will feed into their retailer-specific decisions
