Position SummaryMagellan Aerospace Blackpool has an exciting opportunity for a CNC MachinistFull Time Permanent Contract34.5 hours per week – 7am-7pm 4 week rotation Sun-Mon-Tues/Wed-Thu-FriJob location: Blackpool Business Park, Amy Johnson Way, Blackpool, FY4 2RPUnionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.This role is governed by ITAR, restrictions may applyMachining of aircraft components from generated engineering models to prescribed customer specification, using aluminum or titanium metal as required, utilising 3, 4 and 5 axis machine tools.Perks and BenefitsA company culture that promotes work life balanceAccess to mental health supportBusiness performance related bonus Career development opportunities Commitment to continued learning and developmentPerkbox - includes monthly treats and discounts from selected restaurants, cinemas, shops etcLong Service AwardsEnhanced Holiday Entitlement based on length of service Free parkingBlackpool Transport 'Travel to Work Scheme' member - includes discounts on local transport routesEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesA CNC Machinist will be responsible for the operation of machining cells which could include working on aluminum and/or titanium metal parts on 2, 4 and 5 Axis machines.Setting and operating the machine toolsTo be able to operate multiple machines at all times during shift when safe to do soTo communicate efficiently and effectively with the supervisor, manager and colleaguesTo carry out component change overs for own machines and colleagues if requiredCarry out de-burring of components, including removal of sharp edges and cleaning of holesRoute work as necessary to next operation as per work instructions or team leader directionAbility to resolve machining problems with minimum supervisionEscalation of unresolved problems to Shift Leader, Team Leader or Manager as requiredProvide accurate handover information to next shift on current status and any issues arisenEnsure all job card documentation is filled in correctly before moving onto next operationTo work in line with all company requirements including following work-to list and set up sheetsHousekeeping and maintenance of own working environment including keeping area free of spillsWork in a safe manner complying with all risk assessments and procedures in line with company Health and Safety policy, reporting any Health and Safety incidents that occurActively support and contribute to the continuous improvement programme and lean manufacturingAny other reasonable duties required by management in support of the businessSkills/Knowledge Requirements:Academic:EssentialGood general education Time served recognised engineering Apprenticeship, minimum of City & Guilds/NVQ in Mechanical EngineeringDesirable HNC Qualification is desirableExperience:EssentialMinimum of 2-3 years of 3,4 and 5 Axis machiningKnowledge of ControlsHealth and SafetyDesirableAerospace manufacturing experienceKey Competencies: Motivation Attention to detail Housekeeping skillsOther Skills/Abilities/Personal Attributes:Skills: FANUC & Siemens Knowledge Heidenhain knowledge Self-inspection knowledgeAbilities: Problem solving Written and verbal handover communicationPersonal Attributes: Clear communicator Organised and methodical Demonstrates values consistent with the corporate culture, management and operating style expected of Magellan employees Team player Committed to best practiceAbout us:Magellan Aerospace is a global, integrated aerospace company that provides complex assemblies and systems solutions to aircraft and engine manufacturers, defence and space agencies worldwide.
